  1. Feeling your pain on all counts. Never had so many pointless emails it seems 😂 I feel like it’s going to be Friday maybe? They said before half term. She is away with brownies from Saturday so at least if at a no I get time to prep...😅
  2. @Spamcat strange they were slightly different. maybe because there were more boys in her group. This week is going to be painful I have to say. At least it’s a diversion from the waiting from RBS I guess 🤦🏼‍♀️..also waiting on a job interview I went for. couldn’t be more waiting if I we tried 😂😂
  3. Yes Spamcat she did - She loved it again- she was pretty descriptive - said they went in, warmed up in a circle, did some centre work all in first and second position, plies etc. She said they had to lie on their back and get their leg as close up to their face as poss. No splits, cobra, frog on back. She said they did stand in some positions but didn’t take their shoes off at all. Two improvs - one dancing round the room, one with arms. ‘The lady was taking notes and they had people’s photos’. she said the teacher was ‘more strict but nice’. Sounds completely different to RBS. More dancing. she started talking about her two chances to apply for both schemes again next year so is ready for disappointment but I think just wants it desperately. Amazing school I thought! Anyway! Sorry everyone for that brief diversion - annnnnd back to RBS 😅...💁🏼‍♀️
  4. Lovely to meet you and your lovely DD today, lots of luck to you and your friends little boy and good luck for next week! x
  5. Evening everyone DD had her elmhurst audition today. She said they went in, stood in a circle, did some skips to warm up, then they did some centre work. She said this was in first and second position. Plies and pointing toes..No barre work. They didn’t take their shoes and socks off at all. They did froggie on back, cobra and had to lie on their back and get their leg up as near to their face as poss. They did two bits of improv, one where they danced round the room and one where they just used their arms. There were 21 in her group. They said they want to get the results out before half term. Hope that could be of help to some of you! Seems very different to RBS! 🙃 xx
  6. Yes she has 😅 today was for elmhurst associates. We are definitely done now! 😆 just in car on way home and logged in to give DD description of the elmhurst audition 😁..
  7. Well I’m in a pink top and a leather jacket so do say hi if you see us..lols ballet co blind date 😂 good luck to your DD!!
  8. Same here spamcat! on our way to Birmingham now. We are group 3 🙃
  9. Wow Ms sunshine what an amazing resilient little DD you have, and congrats to her on her achievements! amazing!
  10. My daughter said a man came and gave her a correction when she was doing this. I asked what and she said, he moved my leg..and asked ‘ can I do it like this’ if that makes sense?
  11. Yes there was another gentlemen there I didn’t recognise. I say recognise like I’m some sort of expert 😆 I have already come to the conclusion we haven’t got a cat chance in hell looking at some of the talented kids there that day, but my goodness I love the analysing? It’s so fascinating to me... we had about 25 in our class. they lined up in four groups of 6 and a couple of the groups had an extra in.
  12. Hi Bunny! Yes this makes sense to us too as my DD said ‘the man’ asked her to correct something (I think she meant Mark) and she was an odd number. Although there was three on the panel at ours I think? The plot thickens.. 😅
  13. In my limited experience I can vouch for what balletmamatotwo says above. It was very different to the insight day from what I can tell. They first half seems to have been lining up in front of the panel in different positions and stretches. It was also done in bare feet. The second half was skips, gallops, jumps and a bit of improv. Whatever they did they all loved it because every child came out flushed and smiling! I’d say we got our money’s worth just having the class - DD is happy with that, she said it was the best class ever..🙃
  14. Oh you should try it! 😆 Me and my husband and my father in law who was round at the time all had a go 😂 turns out husband finds it hard to move it down very far at all, FIL goes about half way where as mine drops quite a way. It feels a bit weird! A new fascinating fact I have discovered about myself..DD found us all ‘embarrassing’ and refused to partake😅
  15. Yes Pas de Quatre this was it - she said it was the ‘opposite of froggie’ 🙂
  16. Here’s a question for more experienced ballet mums or teachers - what is the exercise where they lie on their fronts and have to sort of put their knees together and move their lower legs out to the side (if that makes sense)? Have never seen this before and wondered what it was for? they did it in DDs class. She hasn’t done it before either.
  17. I was so nervous! DD was really nervous too. But everyone was lovely. The mums were lovely, the teachers, they all came out on cloud nine. It really is just a lovely day out. We went for sushi before and got a smoothie after..we have two other DCs so it was nice to just spend time with her for a bit 🙂.
  18. She has been re enacting it today 😂🙈She was in the 2pm class. There was a class after hers at 330. She is 7 (May birthday) and they all looked similar height. The class after they all seemed much smaller! So many talented little DDs. Golly it’s such a wait isn’t it..😬
  19. Well we have been and done it! It was fantastic - she came out and said ‘I LOVED it’. I don’t know what they do but all of them came out bouncing off the walls with excitement! DD has now hit a post exciting day crash, but before she did I managed to get a fairly detailed account of what happened for anyone interested! In summary: They were given numbers and lined up in order. I think it was in age. Mark Annear (I think) gave a little talk about how he would love to take them all but it will only be a few, but just to enjoy it. they all went off. DD then says they went it and did a quick warm up. Skips and gallops. Then they lined up at the barre, took off their shoes and socks and took it in turns in groups of 6 to go and stand in front of the panel. they stood in parallel, to the side, in first position and sitting down with legs stretched out and feet pointed. then they went back to the barre and did some barre work. they then did some stretches - frog on back, NO SPLITS, a version of a cobra type thing..they did a version of ‘dolphin’ in yoga where they life their front and legs off floor. They had to also try and lift their heels off the floor as far as possible while sitting with legs out in front. they did skips and gallops across room and a thing that DD described as ‘gallops, spring jumps and landing in an arabesque’ they has to pretend to be something under the sea, while kneeling. She said she got a ‘massive correction’ when lying in frog which she then did and they said ‘good’ thats it!!! she said everyone was about the same apart from one girl who was the ‘best she had ever seen’ 😂 There were so many girls - have zero expectations br we had a lovely lovely time! GOOD LUCK @Dancing unicorn hope it went well for you! xxx
  20. Thank you! And good luck to you too glad it went well 🙂 xx
  21. Good luck to everyone auditioning, we have ours on Friday, we could possibly be one of the first centres? still can’t quite believe we are doing this (😅) but I’ll let you all know any info I can get out of DD afterwards! I’m more bothered than DD who is delighted she is missing a day of school for ballet..
  22. I sent mine normal post, the woman in the post office was quite adamant it was two stamps..I was too scared of her to question so just went with it, and I got a reply from Elmhurst a couple of days ago by email? Just a standard response saying that they would be in touch with my time and more info. So it looks like it got there and the photos were ok 😁. It didn’t take long to get my email from them..
