@PutYourBooteesOn oh that’s fab. It’s lovely hearing how excited she is. DD has no idea about the tracksuit 😁. I’ve kept it a surprise until now and thought about waiting for her birthday beginning of Sept but I don’t think I’ll be able to once it arrives 🙈. Yours came really quickly. I ordered ours on the Sat after the results and still waiting for it all

The leotard we ordered new and came in two days. The tracksuit & skirt we bought from a friend. Don’t worry, it’s not yours being unusually slow x

  2. DD is going into y5 and “average height”, slim- to average body.’size 1 leotard arrived and fits well, aside from the too much fabric at the crotch. Age 9-11 tracksuit is generous but manageable. Bottoms are definitely baggy but she’s beyond thrilled. The pants are a bizarre specimen and we probably should have ordered the large but at nearly £7 the medium will do for this year! She is insanely excited with it.

I just got excited as had an email from RB... thought it was offering a place

    for DS. 😭 😂

Although a winter intensive in Japan would be lovely...

We were SWL last year and were told by DDs teacher that those offers come in via phonecall rather than email. It was the case for friends we know too. So one time Sylvia from RBS had to ring me about an insight day, she opened with “I’m really sorry this isn’t The Phonecall, but...”

I might have to talk DD into a nice new hair cut then, otherwise I'm not sure they will look as neat as yours :)

Just takes a bit of practise. DD has near waist length curls and we get it into plaits over. We do it wet, four bobbles, tight, and lots of gel spray! She wears it like that for exams etc too. We are y5 Leeds newbies. She’ll have plaits from the first day with her bows. I’ve heard full sole for the leathers also but the manual actually doesn’t specify anymore, only that they should be leather, and we have a pair of brand new split sole leathers that will be a perfect fit for September so I am tempted to send her in those until asked to change them!

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I know nothing about the SWL.

Has anyone ever had luck finding out their DC’s position on the waiting list (chances)?

How really short is that list?

I’ve heard anecdotes of people getting places off the list, but no one I personally know.

I’ve already responded “yes please” to the list, but have no idea of the chances.

I’m heartbroken for DD who who thinks “she’s kind of in and it’s just a matter of time now”.

I can’t tell her that she’s wrong or that she’s right... and she’s too small to understand.

We know two who got a call offering a place within 10days of getting SWL a couple of years ago.  They put a less popular second centre as an option when accepting their SWL place and got it. we got SWL, did the same, and didn’t get anything last year then a yes this year though... so it’s never hopeless! It is much better for us to have the first choice centre this year, the second choice would have been such hard work to get to.

Thank you for this. Depending on when term starts it might clash with EYB eek! How do I deal with that???

It does clash, yes. I spoke to EYB as we knew she’d got in before the EYB audition. They said they’d let the JAs miss one of the two Saturday rehearsals, maybe both but they’d have to miss JAs for matinee day. It also clashes with another programme for us too so we decided not to do it this time as she wants to be at all her royal classes

Does Emma teach at the other locations?  Has anyone got any experience of BBA Hull?

We really like it, we’d been doing the summer courses and were then thrilled to have a centre nearer to us. Emma couldn’t be more supportive and her ethos/approach to training young dancers is excellent.

I know exactly how you feel. I’m resigned to a no now.

We have EYB Auditons tonight though so nice to have something else to focus on. Just praying one of them goes our way.

    Good luck everyone x

Oh good luck for tonight. We had booked the audition but have pulled out now... too many clashes!

Just wondering if anyone has ever been successful in getting feedback from JA auditions? My DD has just had a ‘no’ for the 3rd year running -  in my mind that means she definitely does not have what the Royal Ballet are looking for. But her teacher is already saying she needs to keep ‘plugging at it’ as she thought she stood a real chance this year. My DD is already saying she might want to try for the Mid Associates next year... but my gut feeling is that if the RB have said no this many times, there is something about her physique or dancing ability that isn’t right for them. She successfully auditioned for another associate scheme last year (Y5) and will continue that for Y6. It just feels unfair to let her audition for the MAs  (and to pay the application fee!) if she absolutely doesn’t stand a chance. Feedback from her audition would be so helpful!

We have two friends who’ve got mid places who weren’t successful at JA....

Sorry to hear that @Creakingstool, after our no yesterday DD seemed ok - then I found her crying in her room! which wasn’t great, but today it’s like it hasn’t happened and we are all back to normal, everything forgot about and without the cloud of not knowing hanging over head! they are very resilient these little DC’s! 🙂

Hopefully when she’s got her elmhurst uniform and can get all excited about that, it will be put right aside xxx

  11. Huge congratulations to the Yes families and much love to the No. I hope your DCs bounce back well and determined for trying again. Their No’s aren’t nevers, they truly mean it when they say “it can often be a just not yet”.we had our yes this year after SWL last. Stick with it xxx

I have had an email from the Royal Ballet School and almost fainted 😱. It was about the Belfast programme that they have randomly added to our accounts!

The audition outcome comes from a specific email account- Liz thorrington I think the name is. You’ll know when it’s TheOne.
