  1. For those who can see when a video has been watched, can you tell if it’s been watched all the way through?
  2. We’ve been contacted to say they could only see 15mins of the video despite it showing up in my DropBox as the full length class. Doing it via WeTransfer directly to the assistant’s email address seemed to work: haven’t told DD yet about my technical incompetence!! So yes, if there is a technical problem, they get in touch!!
  3. Hi all sorry for the delay: I didn’t get an email telling me there were more replies! We’re not moving to Europe for ballet! Goodness me no: she’s only 10 and we have other children and our own jobs to think about!! My husband has a new job which requires us to move to Germany permanently so I’m simply investigating options closer to where we‘ll be living. I speak fluent German but she has very little. She’s bright and young though so will learn fast. thank you for all your ideas and suggestions. Really appreciate it: it’s such a minefield!
  4. Thanks all. She doesn't speak any other language which may be an issue. We are moving to Europe as a family, and so we are interested in European ballet schools to try to keep her at least a little closer. But the language barrier may be insurmountable. I'll take a look at that other thread too. Thanks.
  5. Does anyone know anything about the options for vocational ballet training in Europe from 11? There's Paris Opera, but any others which are well known? Particularly in Germany, if anyone has any experience there? My daughter is keen to start vocational training and so I'm doing a bit of research. Thanks
  6. We are moving to Munich at some point in the next 18m. Our eldest is 9 (Year 5) and does a lot of dancing: every variety (tap, modern, ballet, contemporary, commercial, jazz). She does competitions through her dance school, as well as exams. She has no desire to pursue dance as a career, but is talented and works to a high standard. Does anyone have any recommendations for dance schools in Munich which might be suitable for her? We're not sure where we'll be living so anywhere is appreciated! Thanks
  7. You’ve all reassured me so much. Thank you. I’m really conscious not to make her question her body shape/type and to learn to love and accept what she’s been given so I don’t want to make this into a ‘thing’. I will be patient. She has time
  8. Thank you for the reassurance. That was my gut but it’s hard being there and seeing the gap between her and the others!
  9. This is maybe a bit odd! DD is 8 and extremely slim. We’re talking ‘how do her legs hold her up?!’ slim. She’s very healthy, eats well etc; that’s just her build (I was the same at that age). She’s just been at a competition over the weekend. She was one of the youngest in the (wide) age category and although she danced really well she seems to lack the physical control of the older girls. We were chatting about how she could improve and she said she feels she needs more muscle... I agree this would give her more precision and clarity of movement, but I don’t see what we can do. She is how she is!! Any advice? Is this just a question of continuing to train and perform, and her body will catch up? Or should she do eg Pilates to strengthen as much as possible? She’s a talented little dancer I think, but struggles to hold her own sometimes, particularly with the complicated choreography, and I think it’s because she doesnt have enough physical control.. Please tell me if I’m stressing unnecessarily. First time competition mum so don’t really know what to expect or how fast children progress etc...
  10. Hello First time posting so please be nice! DD is 8 and has flat feet. Essentially, her arches are dropped (so when she stands in first, her foot doesn't rise up after her toes and then down again to her heels if that makes sense: it's one straight line): she wears insoles in her normal shoes. This is genetic (from her Dad). She's also got his hypermobility though so is very flexible and when she points her toes it's a really beautiful shape. Is anyone able to give me any guidance on what this means for her ballet-wise? My gut is that it's going to make 'proper' ballet training impossible, and that ballet schools wouldn't even look at her, however talented she might be, but I may be wrong? She loves all dancing, but I want to be able to manage her expectations. Thanks. x
