Sorry Rob S, That isn't an example of a "red runner" (or "red run" as some call it here). It's a front of curtain call. The red runner is when the front curtain is pulled back centrally a short way to reveal the red runner which provides a backdrop for the performers, soloists and leads, to take their calls. The runner is to enable the stage hands to strike the sets while the calls continue, something that wouldn't be possible if the cast continued with full stage calls. The front of curtain calls used to be only for the leads when their was sufficient continued applause after the red runner ones had taken place. All of the decisions about the calls are taken, usually, by the stage manager.

I'm trying not to be a pedant, though I think I'm failing...

Oh ok, in that case I’ve never seen a red run and will erase the phrase from my vocabulary 😊

I'm baffled by Amazon's claim that the recently released 'Onegin' is Region 1 and therefore unsuitable for most DVD players in the UK, yet according to C Major's website the DVD is Region O. Has anyone here bought a copy from Amazon UK?

Yes, and it’s in the ROH shop too.

The Amazon photo of the back of the box confirms it’s region free.

Oh dear, sounds like this is going to be expensive. There are times when I hate the progress of technology.

Having examined my laptop's various ports it has an HDMI one so I'd assumed that I'd just be able to plug in a Blu-ray player to that like you'd plug it into an HDMI port on a TV. However I hadn't thought about software. Oh well, I certainly can't afford to shell out £400-500 right now so I've got plenty of time to research it further.

It plugs in to the USB port. A decent player will set you back about £90 on Amazon

The player will come with the software needed

Amazon release date is listed as 1st March, which is tomorrow. Amazon usually get it to you on release date, depending on postal service. Hope you watch it before tomorrow, otherwise your extra £5 is wasted. I watched it last night to get max financial benefit.

6th March was the day they said it would arrive although I do admit that they did get the Vienna State’s Le Corsaire to me earlier than expected.
