  1. I've been thinking about you today @primrose, we know of two families that lost children in young adulthood to illness so different circumstances to Oliver. Is there any support group for families that have lost loved ones due to medical negligence?

My heart goes out to your family knowing this was preventable but if you can connect with families that have been through a similar loss it might just help in some small way X

Hello everyone! Does anyone know if the casting session is when they buy the t-shirts? So, should I bring cash, I guess is the question! Looking forward to meeting some of you tonight!

At EYB Nottingham rehearsal I think they first sold the T shirts at the Saturday rehearsal. The casting one was rather hectic, they were signing parents up for Chaperones etc.

Well you already know the Birmingham results are coming out and it is a no for dd, but she is very new to all this and only just started on this journey. She is doing Midlands Associates this year so we will try again next year with a bit more experience under her belt 😊

She really enjoyed the experience though so thats nice!

Congratulations to all who have a place and sorry to those who have a 'not yet , your are still all amazing little dancers 😁.

I'm sorry to hear that but also really glad that your DD enjoyed her audition.  She's done well to get into Midland associates. If she wants to do more please consider Chantry Associates at Grantham. If they have space they allow students in all year round. Audition is in the form of a class x

  5. My DD has grown out of the Capezio medium child shorts, they still fit her on the waist but there's not enough coverage in other places. I ordered the next size up but they are too loose on the waist.

Are there any other brands which suit petite children?

  6. Thank you forvyour advice and good luck to your DD. My non dancing daughter has finished her degree and has enjoyed her uni experience so much. If your daughter's interest is Law she will really enjoy her degree. My daughter studied Creative writing and Literature and lovedevery minute xx

  7. Maybe it's time to find a different teacher? If you are unable to have that dialogue with them then find a different teacher.

DD's old teacher wouldn't give much away. She would say 'dance is a very short career' she was very much of the old school and didn't appreciate how much competition there is for female dancers.

She would also say that she didn't need dance exams to get into vocational school, missing the point that they have to be a particular level whether they take exams or not.

She was a marvellous teacher with an incredible background, on paper she is probably the best in the business. Unfortunately I was not comfortable approaching her and her teaching style didn't suit my daughter.

I have always bought DD's pink tights from dance direct.  Small adult fits her fine and they often do offers at 3 packs for £14.95.  In my experience they last much longer than Bloch, they keep their shape and they don't snag much.  Only downside is that they do fade quickly in the wash if you machine wash them, but are okay if handwashed.   I tend to keep one pair back for exams and ensure that I always handwash them to keep colour.

Thanks for the recommendation. I am also after dance shorts and this is the only website that has multi packs of tights plus the dance shorts!

  9. My DD is due to audition for MIDAS.

Would you be able to confirm which Sunday in the month the classes take place? My DD is hoping to study Musical Theatre when she's older and I've found a couple of good Jazz /MT schemes that all fall on the second Sunday of the month. 😕

When my DD did Coppelia earlier this year, the first hour always consisted of warm up ballet exercises so if you struggle to get time off from school, they're really understanding about it at the EYB (I also overheard that it is for this reason that they allocate the first hour for warm ups). It's then followed by the actual casting/rehearsals. So I wouldn't worry :)

    That's reassuring to hear 😊

  11. I have a bit of a dilemma, there are 4 Fridays when we need to get to the rehearsal venue for 4pm.

School finishes at 3.15 but we'll be travelling from Derby to Nottingham. She only has one lesson in the afternoon but it's Maths or Science on Fridays.

School have been really good about the time off for the dress rehearsal and are also allowing my DC's to miss a day when my eldest graduates.

I just feel like it would be pushing it to ask if I can collect her at the start of lunch.
