Thanks for the replies. She is young in her year group so not 10 until August. We have already applied to RBS summer school but to be honest I was more concerned about the expense of it all and if it was really necessary at this age. Looks like we need to save up and give one of them a go though! I will look at YBSS and OPES. Thanks
It's definitely not essential so don't worry. If you are concerned about having no dance over the summer or falling behind her peers what about a couple of privates with her favourite teacher that would keep her ticking over without incurring the expense of a summer school

I think Pups_mum has really covered everything but I just wanted to add that dd went to her first summer residential when she was going into year 6 and enjoyed every minute if it. It was beneficial to her in so many ways. Aside from the wonderful teaching she received it gave her so much confidence & independence. I am pretty sure Opes takes from 9 & if she's going to be 10 before the summer it might be worth giving Elmhurst a call as they accepted my dd at 10, though she was only a few months off 11 at the summer school. It was a nice one to start with because it's shorter at only 3 days though my dd did come away wishing it was longer which seemed to be the general consensus.

DD received a letter from Tring today-got funding audition!!
Congratulations to your dd. Great to hear that the Tring letters are starting to arrive. What date did your dd audition?

I'm reading this thread with great interest as I have recently been chatting to dd's school about PE & the risk of injury, particularly during audition season. Under the circumstances the school have been understanding & have signed her off PE temporarily so long as I put it in writing for their records. Longer term though it is still a concern of mine & I appreciate that outside of school not every child is involved in a physical activity but dd,12, dances for 9 hours a week & using the time that she was meant to be in PE to do homework would be a huge help to her. I am thankful that she has an understanding PE teacher that has a genuine interest in dd's ballet & even came to watch her perform with EYB last year.

Hi All What do you wear for individual solos for Tring?
My dd just wore the same as she had been wearing for the rest of the audition. She said that everyone else in her audition done the same

What date did you audition? We did on the 8th
We were on the 9th

I was just coming to ask if anyone had heard anything back from Tring yet? I know they said 3 weeks & it's not quite 3 weeks for us yet. I need to learn to be more patient I think

What about a starch spray?

I remembered at the last minute to put dd's application in. She's been on the waiting list for the past 2 years so I think she is hoping this year might be 3rd time lucky. We can only hope! I did it all in such a hurry that I didn't even look at when we would hear but if its end of February at least we don't have too long to wait

Thanks TooTu. Well done your DD for getting the full scholarship !
My DD got in first time round & was offered a place at the audition much to her delight. I Just wondered if it was usual to get through subsequent auditions or whether lots got a "no" 2nd time round. Shes's 10 so doing Junior audition again :-)
Sorry I had read your post completely the wrong way round!! I have only heard of a couple of seniors that got in as juniors but didn't get in as seniors. Good luck to your dd

Hia
Question for those that have done lots of EYBs, is it usual to get through subsequent auditions or do many get a “no”?
thanks
My dd got a no at her first EYB audition & went back next time & got the full scholarship so it's definitely worth trying again even if you have got a no in the past

Thanks! I don't know how I missed that!
I've worked out the sizing on the extra petite and it's (at least) 10 cm bigger than dd, so I think that's not a goer, unfortunately, so I need to find child sizes.
That link should be to the child sizes. It starts at age 4-6 & goes to age 12-14.

If you get a chance, could you link to one for me? I've been looking but all I've found are pale pink (which is pretty much the only colour she absolutely refuses to wear).
I think this is the type balletbean means. My younger dd has this one & it's great https://www.planetdancedirect.co.uk/Bloch-Tendu-All-In-One-Jersey-Warmup

Dd would like to do OPES this summer but can't find it advertised anywhere at the moment. Does anyone know when they advertise the dates and open applications?
My dd done Opes last year & is keen to do it this year again too. I don't think the applications are open yet as I remember looking not that long ago though I'm sure they won't be long.

So I've had a really frustrating e-mail from the Sansha shop (they won't honour the prices on their website, or explain why they added tax on to children's clothes, or why their prices don't add up to their total) and cancelled my order. But now I can't find the fleece unitard in child size 10-12 anywhere on the internet. Nothing on ebay, and Amazon is out of stock. Dd really wants a Sansha one, as that's what the other girls have. Does anyone know of a real shop that I could phone up, that might order me one in and post it to me? Or something that would look just like it?
I'm going to have a look at all the other brands suggested for next time and see how small they go, but for this time she's got her heart set on the Sansha one.
I'm almost certain dancique in Birmingham stock them so it might be worth giving them a call. They are really helpful so I'm sure will sort you out if they can

Postman has just been & I'm delighted to say that dd has a yes for Year 8 finals at Elmhurst! Well done to everyone who has got a yes & big hugs to those who missed out this year but don't give up on your dreams

Bloch, Sansha & intermezzo all do lovely warm ups that are reasonably priced. Dd has a few different ones but her favourite at the moment are the gaynor minden microtech pants that she got for Christmas over a pair of long leg warmers paired with a knitted shrug or warm up jumper. Usually she has a hoodie over the top of that. She loves layers that she can peel off as she warms up. Move dancewear usually have a good selection of warm ups at good prices

Dance Forward is great. DD did their summer course and is signed up for Easter. Lots of repertoire with Principals from RB - (Sarah Lamb, Yasmine Naghdi, Frederico Bonelli were all teaching the course in August this year)
Thank you I will take a look at it too & show it to dd

We were told they send the confirmation (RBS) of attendance with times around second week in December starting with the first audition group. Hope this is helpful. I assume it will come through the new application portal.
Thank you. That is good to know. Gives a bit of time to make travel arrangements

Thank you. I will let dd take a look at all of these

I think the applications for the RBS one have closed now

Glad to hear your dd enjoyed her audition yesterday. I think your dd might have been in the same one as my dd as there was a class of boys after us too
