  1. Assuming the leotard hadn’t changed (is it still Bloch cotton/spandex tank style?), I also have one available in Age 12 if anyone is struggling to get hold of one.

Lots of luck to all the new starters - it’s a really lovely experience 😊

@elfinwas that for this year entry or a couple of years ago, seems mad not to take a fee with remission and give the MDS to someone else.

It was three years ago. We asked as we had heard it had been previously done, but  were firmly told it wouldn’t even be considered so happily took our MDS award!

We have neither formally accepted nor declined, we are at peace with DD not going as we have found their communication extremely poor, call me crazy but if we are paying for schooling the one thing I would hope we could rely on is a decent communication.

This is one of many reasons we handed back an MDS place after two years.

I would say that sometimes those with MDS' might still find a fee remission better if they are high earners. MDS is still means tested, so if a high earner has MDS they may ask to hand it back in return for a fee remission. This happened previously, so 🤞 for everyone. X

We tried and were told it wouldn’t be possible.

I think I heard them say in meeting last week that there were only 17 year 7 dance pupils but maybe I misheard. If that is right then that is a lot less than previous cohorts of year 7 xx

In your daughter’s year group there were 16 dancers and 4 drama students  in the year 7 intake so I would say that’s about average. As Peanut says, this increases over the years.

  6. Big congratulations to all the lucky little dancers who have had good news this week and good luck to those still waiting. It’s worth remembering though that a no from RBS at this age (or any age!) does not mean a no to a successful future in classical ballet, just as a yes does not guarantee one. There are many glorious roads to the fulfilment of ballet dreams and as someone said in an earlier post, the closing of one door can lead to the opening of another 😊
