As stated up-thread, there is a limited showing in some Curzon cinemas, mostly on 16 December but a few (Oxford and some London Curzons) have a second date (either 18, 22 or 23 December).
Thanks for the info about the additional dates - looks like it should be possible for me to see this after all, and at the cinema nearest to my office too...

I'm also in awe at other posters here who recognise all the dancers individually!
I used to be better at this than I currently am. I usually have to ask about one or two of the youngest/newest members of the company, for obvious reasons (those who have come from RBS are more familiar to those members of the forum who follow the RBS's students and activities more actively than I do).

From the description of the facilities it definitely sounds like she's been going to Central! I wonder whose classes...

Rebecca Reid, digital editor of Grazia magazine, has written this article for World Ballet Day about the benefits of taking up ballet in her 20s:

I imagine my lack of enthusiasm for Raymonda is more a reflection of my lack of understanding/insight. I’ve never seen the full ballet so I don’t even know if there’s a story. But with just Act 3 presented, there’s no understanding of characters/narrative and so the question is whether the dance alone is engaging.
This is exactly the same issue I had with the Paquita grand pas in the RBS end-of-year shows!
I seem to remember enjoying Raymonda Act 3 pretty well the last time it was done at the RB, but not so much that I'd want to see it multiple times. It's Enigma Variations that most interests me this time around, as it hasn't been performed since I started going to ballet (indeed I think I missed the RB's previous run by a matter of weeks) and I've therefore never seen it, though I did attend the recent Ashton Foundation Masterclass which concentrated on Dorabella and G.R.S. (with Lesley Collier coaching Isabella Gasparini, and Wayne Sleep coaching Luca Acri) as well as providing a considerable amount of background - I am, of course, already familiar with the music and its genesis. And I adore Concerto.

Interesting, thank you, Lizbie. I assume it's in The Pit again, although it doesn't actually say.
Yes it does - it isn't in the Pit, but the Barbican Theatre. Which should mean fewer sightline problems than the MacMillan thing!

I've PM'd you back. The ticket is yours

Owing to a clash I am disposing of SCS D26 for the Monday 28th October performance of the triple bill. It's £6 and an e-ticket, so I can easily pass it on. Please get in touch if you are interested.

Just to confirm re a thread I previously posted: I *was* looking for a ticket for this performance but am no longer in need of one.

He is amazingly resilient. I wonder if having a beautiful new baby at home has softened what must be an awful blow?
Well... I was saying to somebody the other day, without a hint of wishing potentially career-limiting injury on a professional dancer, that I suspect in the distant future he might look back on this time and be thankful for the time it facilitated him spending with his newest baby. But the injury and incapacitation is horrible for him, of course - especially having only been back two minutes from his last injury. I’ve heard stories of audible-from-the-auditorium Achilles rupture and am very pleased I wasn’t witness to it the other night. I’ve sent him a message on Twitter wishing him well.

Wow RuthE am impressed how did you retrieve that info so quickly.
I used the search function to find posts containing the words “bras” and “support”. I realise that’s more specific than what the OP was asking about, but knew that the best threads on the general subject were bound to have a couple of posts with both those words in. (“Bras” on its own as a search term is pretty useless, as there are so many irrelevant posts referring to port de bras.)- 1

Welcome to the forum! There are a few threads on this subject already. The conclusion seems to be that specific "dance underwear" for women is all very well but doesn't seem to recognize that anyone above a C cup exists. As an adult recreational dance student who wears an HH cup bra, it isn't helpful, and I'm left to choosing only those leotards under which I can wear a normal bra!

Don't quote me but I think it's only within the current booking period.

Hi Linda,
Just a reminder that you could exchange this for a performance later in the booking period, which would save all but £4 of your outlay for the time being. Indeed, if you were to pick a performance that’s very well sold, even if you actually aren’t planning to go to it, you could then put yourself in the position of being able to return THAT ticket for a pretty much guaranteed resale.

my query about finding out about previous cast runs still stands if anyone can help.
To the best of my knowledge, casting for performances up to and including 2012 can be found on the ROH Performance Database:
http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/PerformanceSearch.aspx
...but more recent performances have not been added. I have seriously considered emailing the ROH with a quote for updating the last 7 years myself.

Has Alex ever danced De Grieux before?
This isn't intended to be a facetious remark, but... do you mean other than when he danced it two days ago?

I have seen Osipova, Nunez and Cuthbertson as Tatiana.
Cuthbertson has never done it, has she...? She was cast in the last run in 2015, but was recovering from her Manon injury and was replaced by Mendizabal.

I'm almost certain that the top price for the better standing tickets was £30 for price band 1 performances this summer.

Bumping this in the hope of a response. Tried Friday Rush today but couldn’t get anything that was up to my standards...

I’m sure a mod will spot this and move it into the Doing Dance sub-forum, where it will get more relevant attention.

Yes, by the time I arrived at the ROH on Wednesday, the website had finally been updated for that night *and* for tomorrow.

I think with any new device you have to enter your user credentials the first time.

Has anyone ever been to a mixed opera and ballet gala at the Royal Opera House that worked? It has always been my experience that one part fizzled out and depressed the atmosphere. The successful galas have, in my experience, been either opera or ballet. Can anyone point to one which disproves my point?
Nope, but this 2012 post from my long-defunct blog supports your experience! https://croceedeliziaalcor.wordpress.com/2012/10/31/extraordinary-in-part/

I never even notice his entrance! He seems to just materialise from nowhere.
Last Saturday matinee, having seen this ballet many many times and on several occasions been watching for it specially, I FINALLY spotted the moment when he comes in! It's when the two Courtesans are dancing and have ended up on stage right (auditorium left), a sweeping waltz theme comes in in the music, and some men come forward in a row. Then Des Grieux enters stage left behind them, looking down at his book. Now I've noticed it once I don't think I'll ever un-notice. But I agree with Sim that the applause on Wednesday was entirely inappropriate!

And it speaks pretty well of ROH regulars, at least those of us on this forum, that we aren't TRYING to buy up all the tickets for ourselves or to sell on to our friends. We're challenging unfairness in the process because we WANT members of the general taxpaying public to be able to access popular productions.
