It’s a special occasion (with Grand Tier box booked… so thought this was closest of the posh eateries?) I can’t imagine beef wellington with red wine jus could be cold…..🤔 Could it???
-
I struggled with the noise that just echoed up from Paul Hamlyn Hall below when in the balcony restaurant the one time I was lucky enough to eat there…
Can people really just wander through the Crush Room? Wondering if this has changed over the years….Im sure when I once tried I was stopped ….🤷🏻♀️
Maybe they didn’t like the look of me 😂 -
I think it must have been changed along with the big renovation as it’s very much a hot menu -,well main courses certainly are ((I can’t imagine a side of potato purée works as a cold dish??!!) Pre-order only & quite a small menu
It’s booking to theatre ticket holders only & don’t think you can walk through it? But only ever looked from afar!
Anyone been in last year or two? -

I think it’s essential to have all forms of social media when job hunting.
The difficult part is getting rid of ballet from your feeds when you have moved on 😅
I think we should hire you to be our 'newsfeed'!! I have never really done FB or Instagram or twitter & feel completely out of my comfort zone....miss the days when you had to just buy a newspaper to hear about job vacancies!

I always thought the school had JKO in its name since it was established but I could be wrong. I don’t recall ABT School as being anything else but ABT JKO School.
I always thought it was SAB...School of American Ballet....is that another establishment altogether?

Am looking for opinions on whether dining in The Crush Room is as special as I imagine it to be to really make the perfect special occasion ballet outing?
-
Oh I see, is this US thing whereby benefactor makes get added? I’m amazed our RBS isn’t now called something unpronounceable!!

Can I please ask what the JKO stands for?

Guess there is merit to using social media….lesson learned

It was just specifically ballet roles! 12 month contract ❤️
Out of interest, what had to be sent in to apply?

Double drat

Drat - they missed that one then! Never imagined FB used to inform about auditions….was it just dance roles or dancer singers?
-
Out of interest, where would this have been advertised & for which production (London or toor/overseas)?
Thanks

Too many female candidates ? what are you talking about LinMM not sure to understand.
88 candidates this year in Lausanne (44 female / 44 male)
20 candidates in the finale (10/10)
I’m guessing what was meant was the level and original entries pre-live rounds being higher % female to male. If then equal numbers of F to M get to live round then the odds are higher for a make dancer to get a place in the live comp than a female entrant

I must’ve missed this…. Was there an open call dancers could apply for?

Well sounds like you need to take me with you to your next gig of choice to educate me Sophoife!

The waiting is tough…so glad to be personally out of it all now!! Good luck to those awaiting…. Trust your gut instincts as to best place if more than one affordable offer (& remember that may include staying home & working out a training route independently)
xx

I expect I’m in the minority at not liking the prospect if this! My own inhibitions I expect shouting out loud…. I prefer to hide amongst 1000’s outside & be able to wander to the bar anytime at a music gig!! Just me

Paris Opéra Ballet performed a triple of Béjart last year: Firebird, Song of a Wayfarer, and Boléro .
We used to get quite a lot of Béjart in Australia when Maina Gielgud was AD of AusBallet as she had a personal relationship with Béjart. The company was filmed in Le Concours in the mid-90s.
Wayfarer is danced to the Mahler song cycle, but for some forsaken reason it is Song not Songs.
Alessandra Ferri performed L'heure exquise in the Linbury Theatre in 2021.
Well that shows my own lack of taking note….I was at that wonderful performance in the Linbury!!

Can someone remind me what the young ROH offering is? Seem to recall signing offspring up years ago but never recall them getting any offers…& goodness knows how many tickets I’ve bought paying full price for myself & for student offspring Have I been very foolish & missed out on concessions? Always so chuffed if I get through the ‘wait’ to get to booking page & there’s tickets for shows I want that I always get into panic buy mode & just get tickets into online basket & off to checkout just as fast as I can (as have had that dilemma whereby I look to add another performance & by the time I come to pay the seats I’d already put in basket have evaporated into thin air & appear to have been sold to another….grrrr). Are there standard concessions or is it more like Sadlers Wells with the ‘Barclays Dance Pass’ £10 seats (which they have used very successfully to get great seats to a variety of shows & I’ve sometimes managed to join them - me paying full price of course & usually not in such a good seat!!)
-
Am I the only person who hears of this & shudders? Don’t get me wrong - I love PSB & I love the ROH & I approve of ‘cross pollination’ of culture as a rule…. It’s just - especially seeing the eye watering sums being mentioned for tickets - I can see these shows could become like those cringe worthy sycophantic hero worship ‘an evening with….’
With celebs out in force in their most outrageous outfits bopping in the aisles all trying to outdo each other as the grooviest biggest fan knowing all the words & ‘killing’ (literally!!) all the moves….😱😱😱Bar Humbug… sorry!
-
Showing my lack of international knowledge… can others please enlighten me as to Béjart choreographed pieces (should I know if these? Are they danced by UK companies?) thanks in advance

Good heavens, I never knew that. What exactly is a partner company? It seems a little odd to me that one of the most prestigious schools in the world is bound by a partnership rule to have a winner in the school/company, when their existing pupils do not participate. Does it have to be the overall winner, or just someone who has won something?
Well, no such thing as a free lunch…. Offering prizes gets invites to judge, teach master classes etc at prestigious competitions.
And certain AD’s of institutions seem to do quite a lot of this…whilst barely teaching or knowing their own institution’s talent!

Do they only hold one round of auditions - or is there a second ‘funding’ audition for those unable to accept place offer without financial assistance in March time (like I believe Tring do) ?

So SAB is not the feeder school of ABT company?
