  1. Staceydor I can't imagine the letters arriving for a few days, assuming they all agreed and discussions weren't drawn out I'm sure they could have taken a few hours to settle on who's getting what, so then the office possibly didn't even get all the info till today and then they have to arrange all of the letters and relevant information and get it all ready for post, along with their usual days work, I'm thinking they may have been completed today ready for post tomorrow, then depending what class they are sent we may get the letter on Thursday or Friday. I obviously don't know for sure that this is how it will go but in my imagination this is how it will pan out lol :)

  2. Aww balletmum20 what a shame your daughter feels that way!! Reserve list isn't a bad thing, infact it's the exact opposite!! She has done incredible and she should be very proud!! My dd said that there were some truly beautiful dancers so also feeling a little less than positive, but if it's meant to be it will be, and if not it will give her something to work on and give her more drive and focus xx

  3. They weren't rude or offhand at all, it just wasn't what I expected, I assumed it would be similar to prelims where everyone goes to canteen and your addressed by head and then children are taken off to get ready and parents could then leave. So I walked through the doors and dd was whisked off and I was told "parents can leave now" It wasn't an issue just unexpected!

Balletmum20 I have no idea how it's worked out, dd said there were 32 there today though so that's a lot of competition x

  4. Thank you balletmum20, yes I think they were a little abrupt when you went to the door and were told "parents you can leave" My daughter was hustled off and didn't even get to say goodbye!! But then I agree that it is better to just drop them and go but if the letter had told us to just take them to the door and leave I think we would have said our goodbye and good lucks in the car, I assumed that the parents were going in for the talk from the principle I hadn't realised they meant only the children would actually go inside. But hey ho in sure they will have a great time and won't have missed their parents at all :D

  5. Can anyone offer me a little reassurance please as just had a panicked text from dd who is in the Hammond audition asking why are people doing solos?? She hasn't one prepared or music etc, but I told her that I can only assume its foreign students who weren't at preliminary auditions maybe?? But can anyone confirm this just so I can put her mind to rest, thank you all :)

  6. Thanks everyone for the replies, I had assumed that if they had specific requirements they would have sent a list but I more worried that there had been a list sent out and we just hadn't received it! But looks like nobody got one so I shall just pack her usual kit, the same as for the prelims.

Dd is really looking forward to it, not high hopes, but we started out the season with the attitude that a funded year 8 place was going to be near impossible to secure so just go for the experience and a class in some of the top vocational schools in the uk and don't expect anything this year, and then if you do happen to get finals anywhere it's an added bonus. This attitude has took a lot of the pressure off us that we had felt for the year 7 auditions and meant we have just enjoyed the whole process a little more this year!! Best of luck to everyone attending on Monday and also to the year 9's and 10's who won't be there ???????????? and remember guys the end is finally in sight!! Lol :D

  7. Hi just wondering if anyone attending the audition on Monday received and information on what the children need to wear and take with them, we received the schedule but there was no mention of what to wear?! I assume just the usual convertible tights, leotard, waist elastic, ballet shoes and hair in a bun...but do they need any dance trainers, jazz shoes, leggings etc for the other classes? Thank you :)

  8. when my dd first heard about Elmhurst she watched the documentary on YouTube and there was a boy who was in year 7 and wasn't offered a MDS and his parents had sold their house to afford his fee's!! I also heard of a girl there who didn't secure funding so it's not unheard of for them to offer unfunded places!! Good luck to those on waiting list!!
