  1. Hello stillatit. Yorkshire Assembly take students from 9 years standard Grade 3 to vocational students. Look on the website www.yorkshireballetscholarshipcentre.com and email the secretary if you are interested as closing date states 20th June.
  2. £600 for 2 weeks as a non boarder at the Royal might sound cheaper but then you have accommodation and travel costs on top of that which could be another £600 if you are not able to travel in everyday.
  3. Dear Picturesinthefirelight Yorkshire Assembly is not in my opinion just a fun summer school. The idea has always been to offer like minded children four days of classes in ballet, contemporary and jazz in a safe and happy environment where the children are taught by highly respected and experienced teachers who teach at the leading vocational schools and have been dancers themselves. Parents and teachers are invited to watch a demonstration at the end of the course in the theatre so they can see for themselves what their child has achieved. Children get the chance to meet other children from other schools and keep in touch after the summer school is over. I would recommend it to any child who is keen on dancing and could cope with four classes a day.
  4. Of course the teaching is the most important thing which is why the faculty are well respected teachers in their field of dance as well as having the experience of being ex-dancers.
  5. Dear Miracle The cost is £395 boarding for the four days or £220 as a day student for the four days or £60 per day. Yes boys can definitely attend as we have some boys from Elmhurst attending and we have Stephen Williams from Central school of ballet teaching.
  6. Dear picturesinthefirelight Yes Yorkshire Assembly is 4 days not 5. The classes covered are ballet, Jazz, and contemporary.Children are put into groups according to their age and standard and class sizes will be between 10-20 depending on final numbers.I disagree that scholars get more attention as five out of the seven of the teachers this year do not teach at the scholarship centre. The children also go swimming in the evening and will be doing street dance on another evening. There is also a physio who is available and who attends.
  7. Dear everyone There are still a few places available on the residential summer school at Yorkshire Assembly which takes place at a wonderful girls boarding school called Queen Margarets in Escrick York for any children 9years - 18years who loves ballet and would like to dance for four whole days being taught by amazing teachers who are all ex-dancers themselves. My DD has been many times and is now at vocational school in London but is going again this year. The closing date was 20th June but they are taking late entries up to the end of June. Check out the website www.yorkshireballetscholarshipcentre.com
  8. Dear against All Odds We stayed in the 'Jurys Inn' on pentonville road, Islington road when my dd attended Central Easter school a few years ago and walked to Central each day. There are student studio rooms in Aldgate East which is just a short tube ride to Central. The top floor rooms are rented out to the public. Assam Place, Commercial road, Aldgate East. Have Central not given you a list of possibilities?
  9. Dear shygirlsmum I am sure your dd will love Yorkshire Assembly. It is very friendly and as well as having excellent tuition they also have fun and make lots of new friends. One of the activities they have in the evening is swimming in the swimming pool which is in the grounds of the school. The food is amazing as well.
