  1. Hey Katymac My DD did an audition for the IA Barcelona which was class based and really enjoyed the teachers, especially jazz. The summer school looks fabulous and is very expensive unless you are in the intake for September. If its a residential place she won I would snap it up!!!
  2. What about an Irish course? Have you heard of Shawbrook? http://www.shawbrook.org/summer-school/ It's a fantastic summer school in a magical place with great teachers. My dd just adores it.

    tired dd

My DD (15) is exhausted and like yours a bit "flat" at the moment. I think it's just fatigue with all the work and unrelenting classes. I got her Floradix tonic and it has helped a little. Maybe as the exam draws closer adrenaline will kick in and she will pick up again. I worry so much about my DD and the huge time and commitment she puts into her dancing. She has practically no social life and has given up so many parties and trips to go to class or her dance group. I know it can get her down sometimes but she insists it is what she wants. She has just this year started her period and that doesn't help as she gets very ratty and tired beforehand. Sorry I am not being terribly helpful but just to let you know you are not alone!

    Dance BA

Hi there Was wondering if anyone knows anything about studying for BA in dance at Fontys Dance Academy in the Netherlands or other similar courses in Europe. We live in Ireland and there are no third level degree dance courses. The fees in The UK are too high so DD is looking at courses in Europe. If anyone had any information we would be really grateful. Thank you.
  5. Thank you! She won't be in Swan lake as she is dancing with another company this term. Hope you enjoy your trip!
  6. My DD has danced in Monica Loughman's company. She was in the recent production of Nutcracker. Monica trained and danced with Perm State and is now working in Ireland. She has set up her own company and school and uses Russian style training. For the Nutcracker she auditioned young dancers from all around Ireland and she had professional Russians come in to dance most of the lead roles for the performances. DD says she is a tough but fair teacher and she has a lot of respect for her.
  7. Thank you for all the replies. I guess we were just unlucky with the set up. And although they did rotate the lines, very often 3 lines performed together as they had to get through them all somehow. They were also very crowded on the stage. She is looking forward to it very much and I am sure it will be a wonderful experience for her. ( Thanks for the welcome too and the links!)
  8. Hi everyone. I am new to posting in the forum although I have been lurking for a while! I was wondering was anyone at the EYB auditions today in Belfast and what they made of them. My DD was accepted but I felt the audition was very poorly organised. It was so overcrowded. There were 145 dancers in the senior audition and they were corralled in a tiny performance space. The ventilation was very poor and the lights intense. I also felt it was very difficult to see all the dancers perform properly. My DD was close to fainting by the time things finished up. It did not feel like a good experience but then maybe I am naive and all auditions are like this??
