Hope this ok to ask here (seeing as you all have DC who are JAs seems a good a place as any!) - how far down into froggy were your children at time of audition? It's been suggested that my DD audition next year and although she is pretty flexible she is nowhere near flat in this stretch. And I understand this to be pretty mandatory to be accepted?
Trying to decide if it's worth even trying or whether we'd be setting ourselves up to fail.

The Place's CAT scheme (from 11) is in London as well as Trinity Laban's one (from 13). Both contemporary based.

@BellaF personally I wouldn't. Application forms generally ask when an exam was taken as well as the result so anyone in the dance world is likely to know that High Distinction wasn't an official thing in 2019. In the same way, when I did my A levels I know I got one of the highest marks in the country in one subject, but I wouldn't say I got an A* as they didn't exist then.
Personally I would never put anything that isn't entirely factual on an application form.
As you say, exam results are largely irrelevant when it comes to auditions anyway.
Ah yes I had forgotten that date of exam would be included.

Why not! 😊

Not that marks play a part in auditions, but when filling in application forms would you put high distinction if the last results met the new boundary?
DD only took her last exam in the summer and is unlikely to take another for a good while.

Thank you so much Knh - unfortunately my daughter will only be 9 but have noted down for the future!

Does anyone know of any Spring intensives held the week BEFORE Easter in 2020? They all seem to be the week after and DD already has commitments that week!
I have this exact dilemma for my DD - I've spent an age trying to find something for that week!
We'll definitely be booking Malvern for the summer. Can anyone give me an idea of what level the lower age group works at? My DD will be 9.

Well done for all the brilliant Manchester results!

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but Force of Nature : Natalia Osipova is available on demand now.

I got my results on 1st August, was only little old Grade 3, but I am 60 and only started ballet three or so years ago. I passed with a merit! Did a little dance and had a little cry (relief I think), so lucky to have a teacher who was willing to risk her 100% pass rate by putting in this old person! Can't say what it means to me..... Good luck to all of you still waiting!
Wow what an achievement! 👏👏👏

Also waiting for August 9th - though just for grade 1 so appreciate not as important 😉
Need to work out a strategy for managing expectations - DD is hoping for a high distinction which I know are not easy to come by. Doesn't help that jazz grades etc. are often scored more generously so, in her head, ballet results seem low in comparison.
Good luck to everyone waiting!

I'm aware of a place being declined so there is hope!

Not for us - through a friend who had some spare 🙂

We had free tickets too - agree was sub par, the 'ballet' especially. Though elements were probably enjoyable to an extent for children (we took our 8 year DD).
I'm a little surprised it was promoted by Sadler's Wells.

Yes - I did wonder if the fact that contemporary has won both years would go against them...
Let's see what ballet brings tonight!

Thought the winner of the contemporary section was simply wonderful - future star!

My 8 year old daughter is through to the final audition for MTB's next production. Can anyone shed any light on how it works? She's been put in level 2 and I'm a little worried she'll be up against older, more advanced girls (she's only taking RAD grade 1 this summer). No-one from her school has ever been part of this programme before so I'm at a loss for advice!
Thanks in advance!

Thank you - a couple of teachers from different schools have suggested she tries so I think we’ll give it a shot. Just so disheartening that something so completely out of her control plays such a big part. Vocational school has also been mentioned so best to get the disappointment out of the way now rather than spending the next couple of years working towards something that simply won’t happen.
Still a few months to get everything else nailed ahead of audition season anyway 😀
