  1. I'd love to buy a complete pre-loved JA uniform for a friend of my DD who is also starting JAs in September, or at least a national skirt, but ideally everything (national skirt, leotard and zip-up top). The measurements for the skirt would ideally be waist 21 inches and length 21 inches (or another length with adjustable hem), and I think she'd need a size 2 leotard, as my dd has a size 1 but her friend, although also aged 8, is quite a bit taller so I think she'd be the next size up. Zip-up top either size 7-8 or 9-10 would be good. Would appreciate it if anyone could spare her a uniform that has been outgrown or no longer required. Or even just a national skirt, that would be very helpful. Either pm or post on this forum, can pay via Paypal or cheque if preferred.
  2. Thank you everyone. Are they supposed to be literally just below the knee, or can they be slightly longer to allow for growth? Sounds like they're very fussy about length. x
  3. Hello again and thanks for replies. I'm in Hampshire, but close to West Sussex and Surrey borders. It would be wonderful to try and make it, but have a toddler and an older son too so have limited time and energy too (as well as being really hopeless at sewing!) Maybe the next skirt I'll have a go ... (though am hoping to ask for a big hem so she won't outgrow it too quickly!)
  4. My dd is starting JAs in September and I will need to have a JA national skirt made, as I am hopeless at sewing, can't even sew ribbons on ballet shoes let alone make a skirt from scratch! I was wondering if anyone knows of an online shop that makes the JA national skirts? Have googled it but can't find anything. How much have other Mums paid to have them made? I know it would vary a lot depending on where you live, but just to have a rough idea would be very helpful. I really must learn to sew, but don't think I'll manage it before September! Any help/advice appreciated.
  5. Sorry, last few questions, how many children are there per class at Eastleigh? Is it the same number in all the centres? I think I read somewhere that the year 4s are with the year 5s, does anyone know what time their class is at the moment? I know it could be different next year, as it looks like they've increased the number of sessions from 24 to 30. Thanks again x
  6. Thank you so much kiwimum - that is very helpful, especially as you have experience of both. What is your dd doing from September? May I ask why you moved her to London (please tell me to mind my own business if you'd rather not say - I won't be offended!)? Good to know the option of moving between centres is definitely there, and that your dd has enjoyed both so much. We're half way between the two centres, but hubby is often in London on Saturdays for work, which is the main reason we applied for London in the first place, so perhaps that would be a valid reason to ask for a transfer? Will definitely accept Eastleigh and see how it goes, thanks kiwimum and everyone else for all the advice.
  7. Thanks Suzyszoo, and many congratulations to your son too, you must both be so thrilled.. hope he enjoys it (while you enjoy the transport museum!) It's tough juggling ballet with other dcs, especially if they're younger and/or not into ballet at all, as is my case! Best of luck x
  8. Thanks so much for all the advice - really appreciate it! x
  9. Thanks for reply Miracle, you're right, we'd be crazy to turn it down ... think dd would be happier having seen it, are the studios, teachers, etc. equally lovely there? X
  10. Thanks Loulabelle for the advice, we'll definitely sleep on it .. do you think they might let us visit Eastleigh? Dd might be more keen on the idea having been there .. sorry, don't mean to sound disappointed, am very proud of her, just wasn't expecting to have to make such a big decision. Thanks again, good to hear they can move between venues x
  11. So sorry Ameliemum, am glad she's feeling better about it already. Now we have a dilemma .. my dd (8 year old) has got swl for London OR a place at Eastleigh (even though we didn't apply for Eastleigh!) ... was not prepared for that at all so athough we're delighted it's not a no, we now have a huge decision to make. Dd fell in love with London and is happy to hold out for swl ... but what if she doesn't get in, and then gets a no next year? Will she regret not accepting Eastleigh? But if she does accept Eastleigh then she won't ever get to go to London, and London would be much more convenient for work reasons, easier journey, etc. and she loved it so much there. And they've only given us until Friday to decide - help! - what should we do ??
  12. Oh no! Do they always seem to arrive on a Saturday? I was hoping it would come during the week so I could open it first and then prepare myself for dd's reaction .. x
  13. Congratulations Happymum! Good to hear 8 year olds do get places .. Sorry New to Dance, hope dd not too disappointed, keep on dancing ... x
  14. If the letters come out in order of auditions, then I guess the Eastleigh ones will be next to come out .. and then Bristol .. and London will be last. So yes, I think we may still have a bit of a wait ... Best of luck Happymum!
  15. Thanks for replies - it all makes a bit more sense now ... Congratulations Eloise to your year 6 daughter (and best of luck next year to your other dd!) I know if mine doesn't get in, she'll be just as, if not more, determined next year!
  16. Well done to all the yes letters - exciting news! It was dd's first time auditioning this year (she's 8) in London - am trying to keep her expectations low, distract her, etc. but she keeps asking lots of questions about it, today she was asking how many 8 year olds they take etc., does anyone know how many year 4s got in last year? Is it really just a few? How do the year groups work? Are they grouped according to age like at school (years 3, 4 and 5) or do they mix the year groups? I've heard there are more places for years 5 and 6, but surely there should be less places as presumably some of last year's year 4s would be moving up to year 5 and so on? Unless there are more classes for the year 5 and 6 groups? Sorry for being so clueless, just new to all this and trying to understand it a bit better!
  17. Hello everyone. First time post for me. My dd (8) is awaiting results from the London auditions, which I guess will be the last ones to come out? I wasn't too fussed until the audition day, but seeing how much it means to dd, how much she enjoyed the audition class and how hard she tried, I've been a nervous wreck ever since! Was so glad to find this forum - and share the excitement/worry. Congratulations to all the yes's and sorry for all the no's, I've heard that many brilliant dancers get no's from RBS, so we should all be proud of our dcs no matter what ... well done to everyone for auditioning. And good luck to all those still waiting like us!
