  1. Can't help with York, but wonder if Leeds is close enough to you? We went to Planet dance just before Xmas for dd's first pointe shoes and the fitter there was fantastic, very thorough and knowledgeable. The fitting took about an hour and consisted of first examining dd's feet, then trying on quite a few pairs of shoes while gradually narrowing them down to the correct pair.

We used the Planet dance inside Northern ballet, but there is also the main shop in Batley, fairly near IKEA.

    Hope this helps :)

  2. I would have thought they were, but don't know for definite. Think the results came out in the same order of venue that the auditions were in, Manchester being the last venue and I think the last set of results.

  3. Just wondering if anyone else is still waiting for MIDs results? We're waiting for Manchester and I know quite a few of these have come today. Oh well, hopefully we'll find out on Saturday!

  4. My dd has just got a place on the intermediate foundation associates, she audition for their Ja's and CAT scheme but the letter we got today said they felt that the associate course was the correct course for her at present. Anyone know what the difference is in what they're looking for between the CAT and associates, other than the amount of training and time commitment?

    Thanks :)

  5. Possibly, not sure though. I think that Birmingham have been the first to hear as they had the earliest audition and those that auditioned in Manchester will be the last to hear because that was the last audition. I'm not 100% sure that's correct though. Good luck for your dad, and what will be will be x

  6. I think that they send them out by centre, where you auditioned, as none of the Ja's in my dd class had heard on Saturday and I don't think any from Manchester Ja's have heard yet either.

  7. Who doesn't know siblings where one is significantly taller or thinner than the other one?

My 9 year old is about 2 inches taller than her sister who is 2 years older. She also has much bigger feet!

  8. I'd get her one, as from my experience of rbs auditions all the children wear them. They're not expensive, about a couple of pounds, you could use a piece of 1/2 inch wide elastic.

Good luck with her audition, we're waiting results for mids.

  9. Not completely sure of the time for the year 5 class, about 12.30 or 12.45 I think and last for about 2 1/4 hours. The year 6 class is 9.30 - 11.45.

    Hope that helps

  10. My dd did JA for the day in February and really enjoyed it, she then auditioned for Y6, was put on the short waiting list and a few weeks after that was offered a place.

I think the reason that there aren't many Y4 places offered is that the children are so young

they only accept the ones they think would be

mature enough to cope with the classes, which

are about 2 1/4 hours long, a long time for an 8

    year old to concentrate.

The Y6 workshop was great, my dd really enjoyed it. It was very audition oriented and I think it is assumed that most of the JAs will audition for either White lodge or MAs or both. Even if they don't audition they still get a lot out of the workshop.

  11. Thanks everyone. Yes we did recieve an invitation for the audition workshop, we're away on holiday then but it might be worth trying to persuade dh to let her go to it because in reality we're not that far from London where we are staying! Also if I can get him to attend the parents disscusion at the end of it, it might help him to understand a bit more.

  12. Having had the application form for secondary schools come home from school with my daughter the other day, we started talking about which ones she might like to have a look at. Her answer was she'd like to look at vocational schools.

She's always enjoyed her dancing, particularly ballet, and been keen to audition for associate schemes but has never been sure if she wants to pursue it as a career. Although this has begun to change since towards the end of last term, also helped by the fact she got in off the waiting list for RBS ja's. She has been so keen to get to all her classes so far this term and keeps asking to do more, even to the point of asking to do festivals as she wants to perform on stage (her words), unfortunately he dancing school doesn't do competitions.

But do we take the plunge and let her audtion for schools? Dh is really not keen, partly I think because it seems to be a new idea and he's not convinced that that it will last, also he doesn't want her boarding. Think he's also worried, as am I, that if we let her audition and she does get a place how do you not let her go as I 'm sure she would want to? (although if she didn't get an award, we wouldn't be able to afford it).

Not sure what I'm asking really, but is it a good idea to let them audition just to see what happens or is it better not to?

Thanks for reading if you managed to get all the way through!

  13. For Ja's it said the shoes had to be leather full sole but no mention of make. I know my dd would prefer to wear canvas split soles as that what she wears for her northern ballet classes, which is what they ask for!

  14. Hi, for Ja's I've bought my dd shoes from our local shop as the info RBS sent to us said shoes could either be bought from express dance supply or your local shop, I couldn't see any mention of make. I decided not to get them from express dance supply as I wanted to see what the shoes looked like on my dd feet before buying, we didn't buy freed as the katz ones looked better on. Hopefully they'll be ok!

  15. Thanks, yes we do know now. I was just trying to think things through as both my other dd dance on Saturdays, but luckily not until the afternoon so it should work quite nicely. My dd keeps wanting to put her complete JA outfit on, she's very exited too!!
