  1. That's odd, my dd is in size 1 Alice and it has a self bra, which she's not keen on! She is normally in a size 2 leotard though.

  2. As far as I know the only real difference is the Alice has a gathered bust and the Jane is just plain at the front. The Alice definitely has a self bra , I'm not sure about the Jane.

  3. Don't think my dd teacher has had any problems, although she has said there is quite a bit more unset work than in the old grade 1, which the teacher has to choreograph if I understood her correctly. My 7 year old has definitely been learning a character dance with a watering can! She's taking her exam next term and will be in the first set of her dance school to do the new syllabus, they will have taken 4 terms to learn the work instead of the 3 in which they normally do it as her teacher felt that she, herself needed an extra term to get her head around the work!

  4. On the Elmhurst junior summer school uniform list it asks for a short practice skirt, which I assume is something a bit like what is worn for RAD primary. Looking at various dancewear sites online there are quite a range of styles, would an elasticated pull on one be better or a wrap one, or does it really not matter?

    Thanks :)

  5. Hi, if it's the one I think it is (couldn't get the link to work), I've got one in age 12/13 although it's been taken in at the sides of the hot pants and has had some shirring elastic put across the front of the top, as it was a bit baggy on my then 10 year old dd. You're welcome to it if it's any good.

  6. My dd was given swl for Rbs ja's in year 5 and again in year 6. Nothing came of it in year 5 but she got a place in year 6, we didn't hear until about the middle of the summer holidays though. She's now on swl for mids, which even if a place does come up we won't take as she's starting Northern ballet associates in September.

    Good luck with the waiting!

  7. Well done. My dd got offer swl for year 5 and nothing came of it. She auditioned again and got swl for year 6, then we got a phone call in the middle of the summer holidays offering her a place. She's really enjoyed her year as a JA and is now on the swl for mids! Good luck and fingers crossed :)

  8. Don't know about mids but assume it's similar to Ja's. My dd got a Ja place off the swl last year, we got a phone call in the middle of the summer holidays, so I think it's if and when a place comes up. Good luck with the waiting, we're waiting too.

  9. My dd did it last year when she was 10. She thoroughly enjoyed herself, but I would say it was fun rather than serious. The children were divided into groups by age rather than ability so were very mixed. As a fun first summer school, especially for younger ones it was great. My dd is ready for something a bit more challenging this year.

    Hope this helps
