  1. After all the Elmhurst and RBS nos so far, one of my students has just had a lovely YES (and much needed confidence boost) from MIDAS! Very happy teacher and student this morning!

  2. One of my students got both elmhurst and Royal last year, so after some tweaking they decided to do both elmhurst and Royal plus her existing Midas associate. They are really pleased they did because she got SWL for Royal Mids this year but has been accepted into the extended associate at elmhurst.

  3. I know one of my students got yr6 JA last year and my other student who has been there since year 4 had quite a few new ones join in yr6 because there was just yr6 in the class unlike the previous years where it is a mix of yr4/5

  4. It's so nerve wracking isn't it? Then there's the overanalysing of results afterwards. A student from our school got short wait list last year yr4 and an outright no this year after doing a year at elmhurst associates too.

  5. Mainly just winging it and a bit of luck on the day. Anything that's not a grimace facially is a bonus. And I've been know to recruit mums to stand and hold the dancers hand while they prepare then quickly run off. iPhones are brill for cropping out parents mid run! When I see developpe a la seconde on any audition form for any student my heart sinks, it's so difficult!

  6. I know what you mean but some of the Primark ones don't have the weird line thing and go all the way up. It must say on the box. Think they are about 10denier ? Maybe 15? And I know other have used silky ones from the indoor market

  7. Think that's a good point 2dancersmum. I hate people paying over the odds for things if it can be done cheaper. My dancers (or more accurately their mums) have used regular tan tights from Primark cut a hole in the feet (like convertibles) clear nail polish around the cut then folded them up and tacked into place. They've wound up with 4/5 pairs for less than one pair of dance-y ones and they are far cheaper. I think if you snip the toe separator on sandal toe ones you could probably get the same effect ?

  8. One of my students is tiny and she wears nude seam free knickers from Victoria's secrets. Another student who is 8 but wears age 4-5 has a Victoria's secrets crop top which is advertised as a ladies xs to both mine and the girls mums horror, no wonder our teenagers have issues with body image when VS xs fits the tiniest 8year old!

  9. Hi Tuco123 I was a BBO ballet scholar north as was my brother. The audition format tends to be just a regular class following a teacher (I think it is still Gillian Hurst). They've made some changes the past year so there is more scope in the north it used to just be junior ballet and senior jazz, but they've added a mids programme and a senior ballet programme. The dance days or concourse as they used to be called are really good fun particularly if your current dance school only offers ballet & tap as all manner of styles are taught, usually with guest teachers from the west end.

I've been at the new BBO headquarters today and they are really lovely. They seem much more organised than when they were at woolborough house!
