  1. Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew what the daily schedule at Central was? What sorts of classes they do and how much ballet/pointe they do each day? Thanks!
  2. I am currently in my first year of full time training at sixth form level and I am looking for summer schools this upcoming summer. I am looking to be applying to as many as possible so if anyone knows any schools/companies that are hosting summer schools this year please let me know!
  3. Going to the Northern Ballet School starting in September!

  4. Don't want the summer holidays to come! That would mean less class! NOOOOO!!

  5. I am a dancer and I dance through my injuries. However I never dance on painkillers so I know what specific moves hurt the injuries and where I really need to stop. I think it is dancing on painkillers that is the issue because then a dancer can aggravate the injury much more without even realizing!
  6. I am 16, doing advanced 2 and by far the youngest in my class! Although this may just be my school (The royal academy of dance) I think that the majority of girls aged 16 are advanced 1 or advanced foundation.
  7. Thanks everyone for your help, from what I'm reading it seems to be a good school! Does anyone know about where pupils go after graduation?
  8. Recently I was browsing the web and came across a school called KS dance? KS stands for Kate Simmons and I believe she started the school. What I was wondering is if anyone knew about it's reputation, alumni, teaching standards etc? Thanks!!
  9. Sorry for not making this clear! To start at aged 16.
  10. Does anyone know of any good ballet schools abroad that are open to oversees auditions? Thanks!

    NYB

Congratulations to everyone who got in!
  12. Normally queries are based on injury or illness... Good luck!
  13. My teacher felt I was ready at 8 but I waited until I had my 10th birthday to get my first shoes because the shop assistants were wary of selling shoes to me. However some people in my class were advised to wait until they were 13/14 before going on pointe and a few girls in my class who also got pointe shoes at the same time as me, started on pointe when they were as old as 16! It really depends on the bone structure and strength of the feet. How often you do class and how your teacher feels!
  14. I recently got offered a place at the Northern Ballet School in Manchester and I was really happy to find out that they could accept me into their school. On the day of the audition me and my mom went and looked around the school and the accommodation nearby and I thought it looked fantastic. What I am querying is what sort of level the first year ballet classes are because I didn't have a chance to see the first year's ballet, only jazz. I was also wondering if anyone had a dd who went or is at the school and could tell me a bit about the feel of the school and the nearby accommodation places? I really want as much information as possible if I am going to convince my mom to let me go! Thank you in advance!! One last question: I am not sure if we can afford the fees as it is very expensive and I auditioned too late to receive a DADA as these had already been allocated by the time I auditioned (long story!) are there any companies or something that I could get in touch with to support me? I know some people offer to sponsor dancers but I'm guessing that is at the bigger schools like RBS which at the time (due to complicated circumstances) I was unable to audition for! Thank you!

    NYB

I did the NYB for six years and I always found that the letters came really soon after the final audition so good luck to everyone!!
  16. Northern Ballet School in Manchester for the post-16 vocational course is the one I am asking about!
  17. I am auditioning for the Northern Ballet School soon and I was wondering if anybody knew any information that would be useful to me? For example it's reputation, training etc. Especially from the point of view of aspiring classical dancers! Thanks!
  18. What is the Northern Ballet School like?

  19. Any of the classes look for potential rather than technique!
