  1. Hi ... Not sure if anyone has suggested turn2us . It is a charity search there are hundreds of charities and benefactors you can search through some will be specific for your area and circumstances , some quite random if you have the surname McDonald or are descended from certain clans.

Out of the hundreds I found around 4 that fit the criteria for my dd although I had no cause to apply in the end .I have heard of one young man who was funded for a course in our area although not to the tune of £90,000.

As I am sure you know it is a massive undertaking trying to raise such a large amount and another factor to take into consideration is , that if your dd felt it wasn't what she wanted in the end the money would have to be paid back.

  2. I agree with dancing unicorn. Ideally there would be upgrading done but I doubt it will be done now as I think the long term plan is on site boarding. It is a happy place.

Your post made me smile sarahw.

On my tour around they said their on site boarding would be completed by the time my Dd would be in yr9 that was 9 years ago .

My dds had a wonderful time at Hampton Lodge, a home from home ,and still miss it now especially my youngest.

  3. Hi

Check out David Plumton's CDs . He has an array of CDs you can listen to snippets of the tracks on YouTube .

Dance teacher can listen before you buy.

When my dd did festivals it was always the teacher that supplied the music.

    Good luck finding something.

  4. I was just wondering for the future . . DD hasn't got past the trying to get accepted for Upper School yet never mind a company.

315 euros is quite a lot though plus travel and hotels plus professional video ,which I presume you would need regardless .

The cost never seems to let up whatever the stage the dancer is at .

  5. Hi Squeaky

Your dd has done really well to gain an MA place as these are few and far between , which indicates at the moment she must have the attributes and potential for classical ballet.

A fantastic alternative to vocational school is the CAT scheme at Northern Ballet in Leeds. MDS funded and the majority of the students 16+ gain places at top schools.

  6. Really hope that these longer dates whereby it looks like there will be double the overall spaces for each age group does indeed give more UK kids the chance to attend.....2 years running DD has been on the wait list with no place materializing....maybe this year could be her year :) Fingers crossed!

4 years for my DD Peanut68 !!!! ...... I'm slightly confused which weeks to apply for this year as the first 2 weeks are offering a slightly different programme , I think she might be better on the first two weeks CG if she was lucky enough to gain a place ...... I'm going to ask her Associate teacher .... Probably overthinking matters as usual !

Fingers crossed for your DD know how frustrating WL can be .
