  1. I can't remember exactly how many got finals two years ago, but looked like more then 6 girls for year 7. More like 12? Around 5-6 were asked to stay for physio assessment after finals.

Edited to add that maybe some of the girls were trying for Year 8 or 9 but I remember another group of slightly older girls starting their final auditions soon after my DD so I guess first group was just Year 7.

  2. Sorry to hear about the "not this time" results, keep dancing!

Well done to all the "yeses"! Finals at WL are a lovely day out (especially if it's sunny), great experience even if a child isn't offered a place afterwards.

Waiting for the results is the worst, hope London results will arrive very soon.

  3. For my DS (who loves dancing) barre is the boring bit as well but he says he understands the importance of it. And why it's boring? I think it's because he has to almost stand still and focus on little details - I think for some boys it becomes easier when they are older.

My DS is a RBS JA and there are no separate classes for boys. From what I know only in London boys have separate classes. In my DS JA class there is a lot of barre work and a lot of time spend standing still and focusing on little details like shape of the hand and where to look precisely in a certain moment etc. All very important of course but challenging for an 8 to 10 years old. Certainly was for my son when he was 8 but he started to appreciate and enjoy it more being 10. Hope it helps

  4. Can anyone tell me how many places are available for Year 7 at the "big 4"? I know that RBS can take up to 12 boys and 12 girls but how many places are there at Elmhust, Tring and Hammond. Sorry if this information is out there but I can't find it.

Elmhurst is similar to WL but they don't always take 12 girls and 12 boys. The years I know about was 14 girls and 11 boys and year later 11 girls and 10 boys.

Tring dance course classes are smaller. I know a year with 7 girls and 3 boys. But only half or less of them got in with MDS funding, the rest is paying full fees. Tring has just around 7-9 (that's the years I know about) MDS places to be offered to children auditioning to years 7-11, so it doesn't all go to Year 7.

I don't know how many places there are in Hammond but I know that apart from MDS places they also offer school scholarship.

  5. I've received the email today :-)

Who else is going to OPES week 2? My DD is really looking farward to it.

I'm sorry for posting twice, not sure how it happened

  6. I've send my DD's OPES application form and cheque a week ago. Will I receive any information that they have received it and her place is secured? Will there be any communication regarding the times of arrival and departure, what to bring, timetable etc ?

  7. How big are the classes in OPES? Is it just the 4 teachers for the whole week for all 3 groups?

To DC get lots of personal corrections?

Also - what time on Sunday DC need to be there? I understand lesson start on Monday morning.

  8. As the website is still not working I have contacted Olivia through Facebook again to book a place for my DD. She will be in the middle Advance 1 group. Olivia says this group do lots of ballet, repertoire, pointe and a contemporary class a day.

  9. I had an email off her this morning saying they're working on getting the website fixed. The following information is what has been posted on Facebook

Apologies about our website. I think people are trying to access certain areas and cannot get any information. We are dealing with this and forms and information will be hopefully be available from 1st January 2017.

Lots of you have been asking for our dates for 2017 so here they are for the time being.

    Week 1- 30th July-4th August

    Week 2- 6th August-13th August

    Week 3-13th August- 19th August

Thank you all so much for your patience. X

    Thank you for the dates.

I'm a bit confused though, sorry. Can anybody remember if every week school starts on Monday and finishes on Friday? Or is Saturday the last day? Or do boarders arrive on Sunday afternoon?

Edited to add that I thought it's a classical ballet SS, no jazz or tap or musical theatre, just ballet, repertoire, Pilates etc. Am I mistaken?
