  1. London started on 8th Sept last year. Congratulations on your place, and enjoy the journey!
  2. I saw last nights evening performance at Sadlers Wells and it was just fabulous! I had no idea how the book would translate to a ballet, but it really was cleverly done. I thought John Hull was brilliant in his portrayal as the brutal, angry Tom, and his scenes with Jessica Morgan, as Myrtle were breathtaking. I also thought the lighting was excellent, and you could almost feel the oppressive heat in the hotel room scene, just by the effects. I am hoping this will now become part of Northern Ballet's repertoire, and I only wish I'd got more tickets earlier in the spring to see other perfomances.
  3. This is a hard one. We're in a similar (ish) situation with our Yr 6 DD. Her last JA session is the same day as her local dance school summer show. We're planning to try and do something with her JA friends before then, but there was no choice about missing her dance show. It really will be a shame, but she has got MA's so will still see a few of them next term anyhow. Also, one of her school friends parents has arranged a photography session for the girls in our local park when they finally break up in July, but the date was during WL summer school which DD is going to! So we had to say no to that - although I think they're trying to rearrange the date so she can be there! Our children do make big sacrifices for their dance, missing parties etc,but in the main, DD wouldn't have it any other way! Perhaps, as others have said, you could get her close friends together and go for a big picnic or something, just before the end of term, so she doesn't feel like she's completely missing out.
  4. Just bought tickets for matinee on 16th. No idea of casting, but I don't care - never been to RAH before, so just very excited!
  5. Just want to say lots of luck for all those auditioning for years 8-11 at WL tomorrow! They've all done incredibly well to get this far, so just enjoy the day, smile and relax!
  6. Wow, I can't wait to see this. Gatsby is one of my favourite books of all time! Seeing it as a ballet will be really special.
  7. My DD is 11. I don't think there was a fourth group. There were about 27 in her group, including a few boys and also girls ranging from about 10 to ones who looked about 15 to me! I don't know how many places were available, but my DD has been given a place in Group 1 starting in Jan. Also, not sure how long we get the place for! Hopefully I'll be able to pass on more info to you then regarding how places come up etc.
  8. Thank you! She's very happy. She was in Group 3.
  9. DD got a yes! Very surprised as her audition group was very mixed in terms of ages, and it was really hard to know what they were looking for.
