  1. Just wondered if anyone out there will be at finals on Tuesday ? I am going along with two of my pupils - who are going for year 7 and year 8 . One is group 2 the other group 3 .Staying at travelodge

  2. Hi ! Does anyone know what my ds means by a circular exercise band - apparently its red and black ! Where may I purchase such a thing ? Thank you . he is at vocational school - borrowed this off a friend - found it really useful , but we can't seem to get beyond this !

  3. My DS got a place there a few years ago - turned down in favour of hammond , and now at Tring . We liked the ethos of the school , very small, friendly and very supportive , but there was no boarding , and DS wasn't keen on living with a 'host family'. It is well recognised along with Sylvia Young , and if DS had been more biased to musical theatre , things may have panned out differently . He is a classical dancer and this was another factor  - not enough ballet . Impressive school though - no frills - old fashioned class rooms - small classes . Good luck !

  4. Hi and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on gaining a coveted place at Tring Park  for year 10 . My DS is currently in year 10 and absolutely loves it , having started there in year 9 . I cannot fault it - DS has improved beyond measure in a year , and leaps and bounds academically too. The boarding staff are amazing , and the children even get a report from the boarding staff on behaviour, tidiness , etc. The music is great too DS in a band, and excellent guitar teacher. Vocational staff brilliant ! What more can I say ! Great choice . Good luck  and send me a pm if you need any advice , help etc and don't want to bother the school.

  5. I believe Tring had either 5 or 7 MDS awards last year but Hammond had 14 . My son got an MDS for year 10 at Tring with an MDS and also Elmhurst with an MDS ,having previously been at Hammond . He chose Tring and absolutely loves it . His best friend also got an MDS for year 10 at Tring . Another one was offered to a very talented pupil of mine who had been on a reserve list . (YR 7 ) but she turned it down in favour of Hammond . There were some beautiful candidates at the audition who didnt get an award - I think one has a greater chance at Elmhurst or hammond. However yrs 8 and 9 seem to be thin on the MDS front - clearly a few must fall by the wayside at yr 9 assessments hence the MDS chance at year 10 . I realise we were very fortunate and often saddened by things I read on the forum on a negative front , regarding Tring. Everyone of course has different experiences , but in the case of my ds it has been his life line. He has improved almost beyond recognition, he is doing well academically and loves the boarding. Music is good too , so I end on a positive note and say hats off to all the Tring staff and congratulate anyone who may be starting there in September.

  6. Thank you all for your help when I needed tutus for the festival, I am currently producing The Nutcracker , with my dance school, and am having a clear out . I have several what I call ' basic' tutus at £10 , some that would be lovely for dressing up (think christmas) and they are £7.50 as they have seen better days ! then I have several of the real thing ! Pancake / platter whatever you like to call them - from £50 upwards. Lots of choice - just send me a pm

  7. Does anyone have a tutu for sale , I need it quite quickly for a competition. One for a tiny 8 yr old , one for a 9 yr old and one for a 10. I know the 'pancake' , or flat ones are expensive, but these are what I would like. I can get the cheap and cheerfuls on line !! Surely somebody would like to make a bit of money back !!!

    Thanks - Tutugirl

  8. I have a duchess costume approx adult size 10 - 12 with an amazing hat ! Like the Tenniel original illustrations , also Mad hatters hat , Queen of hearts size 8 - 10 based on a romantic tutu. i have a mock turtle , an Alice age 10 - 12 and a mini alice for when she shrinks age 4-5 . I also have lots of huge playing cards which are worn as tabbards etc etc . As I said in pm its easier to ring me !!!

  9. If I may be so bold as to suggest from 25 years teaching experience , that the RB seem to base their choices for JA admission on physique rather than those who actually have a talent and can dance. Sometimes these go hand in hand , but the very simple audition and the time spent on looking at the child's proportions and physique , leaves little or no time to see the child actually perform. This is why many JA s do not get into white lodge and many who have never been JA s actually flourish . Just based on my previous pupils and my humble opinion.
