  1. We were looking at Elmhurst for a couple of my students - trouble is that the A levels on offer are English , french and Art , and these guys would be looking to do science and maths . Wonder if there is any change , according to the demands of the year group ? I guess not . Tring do A levels though , and I notice noone has mentioned Hammond.

  2. I think you might still be able to apply for hammond , as one of my pupils parents phoned them the other week (after final mds funding  day ) and was told to submit a dvd. Good luck . My little pupil who got an MDS to Tring  off reserve list , got it too late , and had bought Hammond uniform and everything . late places do come !!

  3. Welcome back Hollie4dancing.  Congratulations to Hollie and hope you meet lots of other lovely year 7 children before September. It might be worth asking if anyone has any second hand uniform at all , this forum is so good for that kind of thing!! xx

  4. Please don't shoot the messenger , but I think everyone goes on a reserve list at Hammond , if they are not offered an MDS . Yes they may be fortunate and still get offered a late MDS from the reserve list . Janet Starmer is the person you need to speak to , but a friend of mine , having accepted a bursary place , was offered an MDS literally the day before term began . So there is hope . Also I heard there were not many in funding final ...22 ? and 15 MDS awards , so bearing in mind some will give back word in favour of other offers , or decide they don't wish to board , or whatever reason , there must surely be reasonable hope for those on waiting list . hang on in there - I hope it works out well for you, tutucute22

  5. So glad that the waiting is over , from a teachers perspective it is interesting , 2 talented pupils who reached the finals , one successful for year 8 , one not so for year 7 but I am equally proud of them both , and would encourage anyone with a 'no' letter to keep in mind that it only means 'not this time ' and to be inspired by other testimonies on this forum . It is evident that very little separates the finalists and all children should be really proud to have got so far .

  6. Morning all ! Been following the White Lodge results coming in with interest , but it seems that noone is anxiously awaiting Elmhurst results (like me!!) . Is it just a coincidence that the majority of year 7 this year are White lodge finalists , or is it that everyone is focussed on these because they come out first . Is it now the case that Elmhurst wait for the successful White lodge candidates to withdraw from the Elmhurst mix ( if indeed that is their choice) or do they send out offers to all the ones they want , and a few reserves ? As a teacher , I have had children through the White Lodge , Tring , and Hammond process , but only my son re Elmhurst , and that was for year 10 . So just wondering, basically how much longer it will be ? I know it is 2 of my pupils , not my children , but I still feel like an anxious parent ! We are fortunate to have other good options , so I am not worried long term , just terrible at waiting !!!!!

  7. Don't give up hope on this one , a pupil of mine who was on the reserve list  was offered an MDS long after the audition , was all prepared for her other vocational school , uniform and all - so it really came too late for her - but it does happen .
