Yes Fiona this is my memory too! He has already been in the foyer of ROH and was wowed by it so I’m hoping he loves the whole experince.

The marketing department at ROH is relatively underfunded. Like a lot of organisations their focus ( for good or bad) will largely be on attracting new ( and younger audiences), plus taking into account requirements from various funding streams. Appreciate lots of people ( possibly correctly!) think the marketing they do isn’t great, but it isn’t done without thought ( for example using rehearsal photos will have been done to appeal to a certain demographic). This doesn’t of course mean they can’t be criticised for the approach they take - but it is a deliberate approach.

Thanks Sim I think I will book - as he does ballroom he is very interested in the choreography and suspect he will want to watch the feet so just need to find a good view seat now! Suspect this will be an expensive trip but worth it if it opens the world of ballet watching to him ( fingers crossed!).

Hello everyone Looking for some thoughts/views. My just 9 year old son has started asking me if he can go and see a ballet. He is very into drama and does ballroom dancing but has never been to see any dance ( other than in musicals). I’m keen to take him whilst he is keen so looking at current season. I’d love his first ballet to be at ROH as he’d enjoy the whole experience ( and I’m lucky to have a voucher!). I’m wondering about taking him to Swan Lake? Slightly nervous though about its length as I don’t want to put him off (in my mind I’d have thought of nutcracker or Giselle). I think he wants to see something ‘classical’ and he’s very into beautiful costumes. Any thoughts ( appreciate I’m over thinking this most likely in my tbh complete excitement that he might get into ballet!)

Thank you @Jan McNulty On the subject of Sarah Lamb’s Manon - one of the most moving performances I’ve ever seen of Manon was a matinee with Lamb/Pennefather. Neither of them were dancers I particularly enjoyed ( I always booked for Watson!) and it was a last minute whim, but oh my it was sensational and definitely one of those special performances that take you by surprise.

@Jamesrhblack - I will be there this evening. I used to be on the forum many, many moons ago but this is my first ballet in 12 years ( hoping the first of many). Be very happy to say hi ( but equally not offended if not as my ballet knowledge is definitely dated …😁)

Hi everyone I have 2 tickets for tonight’s performance of Onegin that I now sadly can’t make. Tickets are Balcony Row C 34 and 35 Face value is £95 each but as it is so late in the day and they are relatively expensive tickets I’m happy to accept an offer for one or both rather than them go to waste. I can hand over at ROH or leave at box office - whichever is easiest. Please PM and if you could alert me here that would be great!

Hi i have a ticket available for tonight’s performance of Giselle. Stalls circle left: C40 Price is £85 but given the lateness I’m happy to sell for less. I can handover at ROH before the performance from 7.15. if interested let me know
