Have any of the U.K.schools entered their students in this? We seem to shy away from entering anything competitive, even ordinary schools do not have sports days anymore.

I had a ticket to attend the event. I have assumed that the event now having been cancelled that your streaming test will be cancelled, unless ROH is replacing it with something else for your test
the event being streamed was about photographing the Dante Project with Mary McCartney which I cannot find on “What’s On” so it must be cancelled. I emailed the lady leading the trial but she has not replied. Very strange though not to have heard from them. -

An email and ticket refunded, yes
We must be looking at different things. I do not hold a ticket to get a refund I will be sitting in front of my computer testing the stream.

Except that this event has now been cancelled
I have been asked to be involved in this on the 30th but not been told it has been cancelled. Did you get an email?

Hugely enjoyed yesterday’s annual performance. Highlights for me were the Mozart Sechs Tanze, brilliantly performed, with I think five of the dancers joining the Royal Ballet’s Aud Jebsen Programme (there is a sixth), and Takademe, an astonishing performance by Caspar Lench (one of the five in the Mozart). I was rather taken with the Romanian folk dances performed by the White Lodge students, not just the dancing but the panache they displayed with their percussion sticks. Always good to see a Two Pigeons extract, the closing Pas de deux, albeit no pigeons on this occasion. And of course the Grand Defile brought the house down.
I did wonder whether the balance was quite right: modern pieces predominated and were excellently performed whereas I thought dancers seemed not quite as at ease in the more classical pieces.
Congratulations to all students and the staff who joined the curtain call before leaving the stage to the dancers and conductor Paul Murphy.
I see the performance has been filmed so hopefully it will be made available to Royal Ballet School Friends as last year.
good review JohnS, outstanding performances from all the students. Are you sure about the availability of the recording to Friends of the School? I am a Friend but never been offered a copy, I thought it was made available to parents of students but that was all.

An incredibly enjoyable evening and a well thought out programme from RBS. A great opportunity to see some pieces I haven’t seen before and also very much appreciated by a friend who is new to ballet/dance in general who got to explore lots of different styles. As with BRB2 I would love to see more of this sort of programming to entice people to give ballet a try at an exceptionally affordable price while being relatively low cost to put on and providing great performance experience.
The standard of dancing was excellent, but also of note was the acting ability of the students which was more impressive than some professional companies where acting seems to be undervalued, particularly in classical works.
Interestingly Carlos Acosta was in the audience last night and I wonder if he has his eye on anyone to join BRB next year. Very interested to see the destination of leavers as a result!
Jiri Kylian’s Sechs Tanze was a surprising delight of the evening.
Quick question for those in the know- will the repertoire here be a part of the RBS summer performance on the main stage?
Carlos has signed up Tom Hazleby for BRB2 for one, not sure who else.Check the “Dance News” topic there is a thread their.

East Fife 4, Forfar 5, surely?
Yes, I think you are right. I clearly remember always listening for their scores on the radio on Saturday nights long before we could afford a t.v. Those were the days.

What exquisite rabbit holes we sometimes explore here! The diriment impediments (I think that's the term) to a valid marriage, such as affinity, consanguinity; and was there also something about 'spiritual relationships'? No reply needed.
There are not many forums where one can see words such as “diriment” and “consanguinity” used in the same sentence. At 76 I can happily say I do not know what they mean but can “doff” my cap to Ian’s use of the language.

I'm not sure whether that had anything to do with it or not: there appeared to be some major problem with tickets going on in the Orchestra Stalls - plus there were a lot of latecomers.
I see RobS was there after all ...
That is because the Piccadilly line was closed between Hyde park and Arnos Grove. I was sitting on a train from 6.30 until 7.30 so missed the first Act. Points failure at Covent Garden.

Such a treat to have it online. I too love Yondering, in particular the "comic" pas de deux. Is there a detailed cast list anywhere, or does anyone know who these two dancers are? The other student who really caught my eye was the lead man in Raymonda, he is amazing. Hardly fair to mention just these three but I would be here all day otherwise. A lovely performance with a very high standard from all.
Oops - should have re-read the beginning of the thread where posters have mentioned names!
Go to Royal Ballet web site and click on the cast sheet and the full casting is there. It’s the one they used to provide for the performance.

The ticket sales, or lack thereof, must be of great concern to the promoters. Really hope it picks up during the remaining weeks.

What a terrific afternoon. I was slightly dreading going today as I am not very good in the heat (and try and avoid London during the summer months), and was a bit concerned about how the trains would be. Thankfully the journey there and back was fine and other than around Waterloo I didn't find it too hot.
Apart from a couple of the dancers I can't put names to faces, but the quality of performances all round was excellent and I am sure there was some very proud families there this afternoon.
Other than Raymonda I hadn't seen any of the other words before and I think probably Yondering stood out for me - joyous with such great accompaniment with music by Stephen Foster and vocals by Thomas Hampson (which I will see if I can download if possible).
I see it was being filmed - does anyone know if this will be streamed in the future?
The program said it was being filmed for the school.
What a total joy the show was. Yondering was such fun and danced brilliantly. First time I have seen them dance this. The defile at the end is such a great way to finish and the ovation was huge.

As a Friend+ I hoped for more choice for the opening night the new Wheeldon but not so. Circle all gone, and very little choice in stalls and SC so back to the Amphi it is. Not sure about how much left for General sales but looks like on opening night not much.

Looking through website how do you buy tickets for the above which runs from 31st May to 14th June?

Given that this will be his last performance and it will be, if not already, a sell out. Why don’t the RB get this performance streamed, it could get a huge number of take ups and then follow up with a DVD. Come on RB, you have the technology , make some money.
