  1. I got the news from a dancer working in Russia and we both hoped it wouldn't come to this but it did. It's insane. From next year, foreigners working in Russia are obliged to undergo a detailed medical checkup, including x-rays and MRI, finger prints, blood tests, tests on diseases like tuberculosis, drugs, HIV, syphilis. Results must be provided to Russian migration authorities. Those who refuse to do so, risk loosing their work permit. I find this outrageous! 2. Dear members Do you have some updates about the Perm state ballet school? How is the social life there for the international students? How many hours of ballet training per day? Is it difficult to follow the academic studies in Russian? What nationalities of international students are now there? The russian ballet teaches have a reputation of being very strict, demanding, less pedagogical and old fashioned in approaching of students, is it truth? Do you know some international students who are in Perm now? Do you know about sponsorship in Russia/ Perm? Does Perm school known internationally or only in Russia? Thank you in advance Liliya
  3. Hi My name is Greg from France. My girlfriend beguin to study dance at age 17. She is 20 now. To help her get better and to have a professional experience I want to offer to her a summer training in a dance school in Moscou (Russia). Because she is not a professional dancer I don't think she can enter in a great school like the Bolchoi. So I want to know if any of you know a dance school in Moscou (or in St-Petesterbourg) that accept international student for a summer training ? I really want to help her to be better in dance that's why I think this experience can create trust in her. Thank you for your help ! You are awsome !
  4. We are leaving the UK, on the first stage of a year travelling, in mid July and would very much welcome advice on seeing dance on our travels. It will be, in this hemisphere at least, the summer ballet gap, but we shall be in Moscow 17th to 21st July (and have booked Eifman) then Perm, Omsk, Ulaan Ade, Khabarovsk - with a final few days (5th to 8th August) in Vladivostok. We shall then be in Seoul until 20th August before heading to Tokyo for two months. The Russian and South Korean legs in particular are proving a challenge - does anyone have tips about dance, or culture generally - museums?, galleries?music venues? - that we should look out for? Any ideas, however apparently random, would be very gratefully received! Thank you in advance! Simon.
