The poems that the ancient Greek poet Sappho sang to women on the island of Lesbos have captivated artists throughout history. Director Netia Jones (Kafka Fragments 2013/2014) explores Haas’s mesmeric, ecstatic soundworld in an immersive new staging to include Haas’s Second String Quartet, with soprano Claire Booth and the London Sinfonietta conducted by Pierre-André Valade.
