meadowblythe
went to see this last night - loved it, loved it, loved it. DH who hadn't seen the first one was equally enthusiastic. As local am-dramner, I would love to see a play of this, does anyone else see the potential there? Given the average age of our players (we are towards the younger end in our early 50's), I think there are bits that would work rather well. Melody
Actually I sort of wish it had been a TV miniseries; there are so many different strands and ongoing stories. But it would certainly be good as a play for local groups of people of a certain age! Interesting that your husband liked it - I did see one criticism by a reviewer that the second film assumes the audience will have seen the first one, so it doesn't spend much time on reintroducing the characters, it just drops you right in it and assumes you know who's who and what's what, which is confusing for people who don't. Apparently this isn't as big a problem as the reviewer thought it was. Edited March 10, 2015 by Melody
Ian Macmillan
To be honest, I didn't remember all of the first-round story lines, and didn't find that a problem. Enjoyable, certainly. With possibly some hooks for a third round, though probably without Maggie Smith's character?
