Cutting-edge dance comes to Leeds for new season at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre

The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, Leeds, launches a new season of dance and family shows for spring 2015.

Opening the season, all-male dance company 2Faced Dance present the double-bill Dreaming In Code, choreographed by award-winning Tamsin Fitzgerald and Frantic Assembly’s Eddie Kay, with music by Tony-Nominated composer Alex Baranowski.

One of the most innovative dance companies, Motionhouse, comes to Leeds for the first time with Broken, an athletic dance set to a visually stunning background of digital projections.

Up-and-coming British choreographer Alexander Whitely (South Bank Award nominee 2014 and Sadler's Wells New Wave Associate) brings his work to the theatre for the first time with The Measures Taken. Whitely has previously worked with Royal Ballet, Wayne McGregor|Random Dance, Rambert and Balletboyz amongst others.

National Dance Company Wales return with a mesmerising Mixed Programme featuring John Inger’s Walking Mad, Alexander Ekman’s Tuplet and Lee Johnston’s beautiful and heartbreaking They Seek To Find The Happiness They SeemBallet Central and National Youth Dance Company showcase the talents of the young and emerging dancers of the future.

Winner of Best Company at the Taglioni European Ballet Awards, Northern Ballet will perform a new Mixed Programme featuring Kenneth Tindall’s The Architect, Christopher Hampson’s Perpetuum Mobile and Demis Volpi’s Little Monsters.

If you’re planning an outing with your little ones, the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre was voted best family friendly theatre in the Yorkshire region in the Netmums Theatre Awards. Ballet Black bring their first family balletDogs Don’t Do Ballet, based on the best-selling book by Anna Kemp and choreographed by Christopher Marney, to the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre in April.

The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre is an intimate studio theatre situated inside the stunning home of Northern Ballet and Phoenix Dance Theatre on Quarry Hill, Leeds. The building was winner of the 2011 National Lottery Award for Best Arts Project. The theatre was recently named as the best family friendly theatre in Yorkshire in the Netmums Theatre Awards. The theatre also received Best Family Venue, Best Family Event and Best Family Welcome at the 2013 Family Arts Festival Awards.
