John Mallinson Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 As mentioned in today's links there is new McGregor work coming up in the Manchester International Festival in July 2015 using dancers from his own company and from Paris Opéra Ballet. Called Tree of Codes it's based on Jonathan Safran Foer's novel and is a collaboration with the visual artist Olafur Eliasson (remember the Weather Project at Tate Modern a few years ago?) and composer Jamie xx. It's co-commisioned by Sadler's Wells so maybe it will travel to London sometime.
SheilaC Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 What surprises me most is that the dates, July 2 - 10 apparently, clashes with the period when Paris Opera Ballet are performing the piece that McGregor created for them in 2011 (L'Anatomie de la Sensation pour Francis Bacon, to Mark Anthony Turnage): July 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 14, 16. You would think he would want the best dancers for both shows. POB dancers like dancing McGregor so there could be some top dancers from the Opera.
