Melody Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) Just saw an article on the Time Out website about the London underground offering all-night service at weekends starting in September 2015. There have been so many comments here about the problems of having to rush for the last train after performances that I thought I'd share this. Hopefully it should make things a bit less hair-raising for people after the longer ballets. http://now-here-this.timeout.com/2014/09/24/its-official-this-time-next-year-the-tube-will-run-all-night-at-weekends/ Edited September 24, 2014 by Melody 2
alison Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Sadly, only for those who don't have to rely on the railways. Some services, even local London ones, stop by 10.30 or so.
alison Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Actually, now I read the Evening Standard, I realise that it's only a limited number of lines anyway: the cross-London ones, rather than e.g. the District and Circle/Hammersmith & City etc.
Melody Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) Yes, I was afraid that there might be a problem with the railways not offering late-night service. Hopefully, though, this service will be popular and will eventually be extended to other Underground lines, at least in the city if not all the way out to the farthest suburbs. London does seem to be an all-night city - when we visit, we stay at a hotel near Westminster Bridge, and there seems to be quite a bit of activity pretty much all night.
