Chalk About is a playful, funny and moving look at how we see ourselves and others. Join Christine Devaney and Hendrik Lebon on their journey as they find answers to some big questions about identity and the meaning of life. What makes us who we are? Is it where we are from? Is it the way we move, or how we talk? Our pasts or our futures? Or is it about the way we dance? Curious Seed was founded in 2005 by performer and choreographer Christine Devaney. The vision of the company is to create engaging, thought provoking, uncompromising performance work with physical expression at its core. Since 2005, Curious Seed has produced the solo work Almost, But Not Quite for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2005), Code Butterfly a large scale site-specific work for young women at Out of The Blue as part of the Leith Festival (2007). Found (2009), was presented to great acclaim during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and went on to win a prestigious Scotsman Fringe First Award and a Total Theatre Award Nomination. “Utterly engaging” Herald Scotland Age guidance: 8+ Post-show creative dance workshops: Saturday 1 Nov at 4.15pm & Sunday 2 Nov at 3.15pm, £2 Duration: 1 hour A creative dance workshop exploring the themes from the show delivered by cast members Christine Devaney and Hendrik Lebon. Participants will be encouraged to explore their own creativity through movement. Suitable for ages 8-12 years, no previous dance experience necessary. Families are permitted to sit in on the workshops Presented in association with MOKO Dance. Supported by Arts Council England, MOKO Dance is a national dance partnership dedicated to opening the eyes of children and their families to the power of dance. Led by DanceEast, MOKO dance unites Dance City, Lakeside Arts Centre, Pavillion Dance South West, Sadler’s Wells, South East Dance and Theatre Bristol in their shared vision of bringing bold and innovative work to audiences across the UK.
