Angel tube station - problems

Sometime in the last 6 days, something appears to have gone wrong with an escalator, and it's under repair. As a result, the station is exit-only, so anyone going to Sadler's Wells or other venues in the area is likely to have problems getting home.

 

Very sloppy of TfL not to have notified anyone of this, if you ask me. If they can notify me of roadworks affecting buses I get, surely they can inform me of station closures on routes I use quite regularly? Yet I didn't even see anything about it at other tube stations on the Northern Line.
