Emma von Enck promoted to Principal at NYCB

EMMA VON ENCK has been promoted to Principal at New York City Ballet.  This appears to be the only NYCB promotion this season.

and in the central section of the Third Movement of Symphony in C opposite Roman Mejia (who she often dances with); a work which is known locally and will be performed in London next season by the resident RBO Company.

Emma von Enck's witty and self-deprecating commentary on one of the NYCB videos about her dancing in the Marzipan variation in The Nutcracker (a version with more difficult choreography than in most productions of the Mirlitons choreography) is one of the most refreshing videos I've seen during  Nutcracker season. Congratulations to Emma!

With the likes of Emma and the divine Mira Nadon NYCB is set for decades of masterful productions of key Balanchine revivals; all shown in their true glory much as the Royal so rightfully shines in MacMillan.  Nadon already spectacular in Emeralds and as the Tall Girl in Rubies is making her principal Diamonds debut (with Farrell coaching) at the Kennedy Center in Washington and is briefly seen here rehearsing the second movement of SiC with NYCB soloist Gilbert Bolden.  This is match made in heaven.  There IS a balletic God and here he/she/they speak:-

There is no question but that Nadon is tall.  I didn't realise quite how tall Bolden was till I stood next to him (and I'm not short) and looked up and saw him tower above me with those glistening teeth in a rapturous smile looking down.

Here is Emma dazzling in a solo from Ratmansky's witty Pictures at an Exhibition.  His work suits the gifts of NYCB like a glove much as McGregor's keen artistry now so helps to define the very stylistic make up of the Royal's fine collection of dedicated artists.
