Ballet uses for elastic from face masks?

With the huge  number of single-use face masks being disposed daily throughout the world, I'm wondering if the elastic could be used for ballet purposes?  Probably most face mask elastic is narrower (and less robust?) than ballet shoes elastic, but what about elastic in costumes? Anyway, if anyone out there could use a batch, I'm happy to send when I'm next in England (after cleaning of course).
