You could always use the "signature" facility to say, for instance, that DC has stopped dancing so you won't be around so much, but are happy to be contacted by PM/will look in now and again, or whatever.  That way it'll show up at the bottom of all your posts, and keep people aware of your situation.

 

You can set your signature using the drop-down menu next to your username at the top right of the screen: it's under "Account Settings".
