Wales Summer Dance 2017 & Wales International Ballet Summer School

 

24th July – 5th August, Riverfront Theatre, Newport

 

Ballet Cymru are offering creative and ballet courses over the summer of 2017.  Each course is designed to accommodate a range of levels and experience in ballet, from grade work standard right up to professional level.

All courses include ballet technique class, ballet repertoire and choreography.  Other classes, depending on the course, include pointe work, male/female coaching, pas de deux, Pilates and stretching.

 

All courses culminate in performances on the main stage at The Riverfront Theatre, Newport for an audience.

 

Self-catering accommodation can be provided for students 18+.

 

The Wales Summer Dance ballet courses are led by the professional dancers of Ballet Cymru.

The Wales International Ballet Summer School also includes daily professional company class led by the Artistic Directors of Ballet Cymru and Guest Teachers.

Week One: Monday 24th – Friday 28th July 2017

 

Culminating in a performance at the Riverfront Theatre, Friday 28th July, 2.30pm

 

Ballet Course 1:  (Age 10+)  9.30am – 12.30pm

Ballet Course 1 includes ballet technique class followed by ballet repertoire. Pointe work is not necessary for this course.

 

Creative Course 2:  (Age 10+)  1.30 – 4.30pm

Creative Course 2 includes creative warm up/class followed by creative choreography

 

*Participants can chose to attend the whole day or just the morning or afternoon course.

 

Course: Half day = £70 / Full day = £120

 

Ballet Course 3:  Elementary/Intermediate level  (Age 12+)  9.30am – 5.30pm

Course includes daily ballet class, pointe work, classical repertoire, creative choreography, stretching.

*Basic pointe work is necessary for this course.

Course: £140

 

Week Two: Monday 31st July – Saturday 5th August 2017

 

Culminating in a performance at the Riverfront Theatre, Saturday 5th August, 2.30pm

 

Ballet Course 4:  Intermediate/Advanced  (Age 15+)  9.30am – 5.30pm

Course includes daily ballet class, pointe, pas de deux, female/male coaching, classical repertoire, creative choreography, stretching/Pilates.

 

*An advanced ballet technique and a minimum of 4 years pointe experience necessary.

 

Course: £140

 

Wales International Ballet Summer School:

Advanced and professional/graduate dancers

(Age 18+)  9.30am – 5.30pm

 

Daily classical company class on stage with the directors of Ballet Cymru and Guest Teachers, followed by classes in Pointe/Male Coaching, Pas De Deux, Repertoire, Stretch/Pilates and Choreography.

 

Accommodation: Accommodation can be provided for this course from Sunday 30th July – Saturday 5th August at the Newport Student Village Campus.
