The British-Spanish Society announces a unique Gala evening of Spanish dance and dancers featuring two world premieres and dancers from The Royal Ballet

Gala Patron Tamara Rojo, the Spanish prima ballerina and artistic director of English National Ballet, has graciously agreed to be our Gala Patron

Date & Time: 7.00pm for 8.00pm performance on Thursday 26 November (ends 10.15pm)
Event: Drinks Reception followed by Six Dance Performances and Meet the Dancers
Venue: The Place, 17 Dukes Rd WC1H 9PY – the UK’s premier centre for Contemporary Dance
Tickets: £32 members; £39 non-members (who can join on the night for members’ discount) including a complimentary glass of Cava

Programme

  • Spanish dancers of The Royal Ballet – Laura Morera (Madrid), Ricardo Cervera (Malaga), Itziar Mendizabal (Hondarribia in the Basque Country) appearing by kind permission of the director, Kevin O’Hare
  • Baltic Dance Theatre, the company of the Baltic Opera House in Gdansk (including five Spanish dancers) presenting the UK debut of Phaedre by Izadora Weiss
  • DeNada Dance Theatre present Young Man!, part of Jamon y Passions by Carlos Pons Guerra (Gran Canaria)
  • World Premiere of new works by acclaimed choreographer Avatâra Ayuso (Mallorca) and a solo by Estela Merlos (Barcelona)
  • Tokyo Tokyo a short dance film directed by Avatâra Ayuso
  • The Bordoneo Duo play flamenco and Mexican music
