Jan McNulty
The dates and programme have been announced: Triple Bill 2016 Tour Dates Announced Published: 5 Nov 2015 Phoenix Dance Theatre is proud to announce their Triple Bill 2016 tour dates as part of their 35 anniversary celebrations. Due to open at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds on 17 February 2016, Phoenix Dance Theatre is proud to present a triple bill of intense, funny and beautiful works. Featuring a mix of internationally acclaimed and home-grown choreographers. In a fitting commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, his timeless themes of desire, duplicity and unrequited love are brought to life in Kate Flatt’s brand new work Undivided Loves. Fusing sound, words and dance, Shakespeare’s most intimate, mysterious and radical sonnets are reimagined to Brazilian percussionist Adriano Adewale’s vibrant and percussive score. In contrast, world-famous Dutch/Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili will rework his piece, Until.With/Out.Enough, which explores the concept of the enclosed space that exists within our minds, as part of a co-commission with The Royal Balletand Phoenix Dance Theatre. Described as ‘Tantalising’ by the Observer, the quirky and playful Bloom by award-winning choreographer Caroline Finnexplores the darkly comic expressions of life and humanity. Audience favourite Melt by Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director Sharon Watson sees the elements collide as dancers swoop and glide across the stage in an elegant mix of aerial dance, creating a breathtaking, visually spectacular work. Melt will only be shown at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Watford Palace Theatre and Cast Doncaster. Bloom will be shown at all other venues.
