  1. Just thought ameliemum, think your dd can join chelmsford ballet company as a guest member as she's not old enough to audition as a dancing member, my dd joined for a short time she needs to be at least grade 3 & classes were held once a month (had to pay a small charge) dd was only 9 at the time, but the class was with other junior members of the company; might be worth thinking about until she can audition next year x

  2. No they dont always arrive on a sat our 1st swl letter arrived mid week, last year letter on a sat.remember someone rang the school last year on the friday & was told they had been sent out that day, so i was expecting it didnt have much time to feel nervous as dd opened letter within seconds! Good luck this is our year off from waiting for audition letters but will have to go through it all again next year for ma place!!

  3. Hi ameliemum, sorry your dd is a bit down after her audition remember tho the fantastic dancers in her group may not have the physique, musicality etc they like! Travel to classes ok takes approx 1 hour. Do hope its good news for your dd, the wait for letter seems endless i know. Yes you are right about photo!

  4. Hello ameliemum remember me from chelmsford ballet? Good luck to your dd we were in the same position as you last year my dd was on swl previous year & last year got accepted! My dd has thoroughly enjoyed her ja classes but the year has gone so quickly cant believe she's starting year 6 sept.

  5. Not sure i agree with your comment tutugirl-very few ja's get into white lodge-at my dd centre this year a couple of girls & a few boys have been accepted & also i hear 3 from bristol centre accepted into white lodge. The girls in my dd ja class do all have a similar physique but many do have performance experience from festivals/competitions & opportunities to dance with the royal ballet company! The ja programme is a fantastic & my dd has learnt so much that is not covered in her normal ballet class.

  6. My dd wore a nice camisole leotard & satin ballet shoes with her hair in a bun. Dont think it matters too much about leotard as long as its a good fit. Number is worn on back & front of leotard. Dd found audition enjoyable & not too hard. They do look at feet & legs quite closely.

  7. Hi balletmum 1972 dont give up encourage your dd to stretch everyday. My dd is a ja but there are a few girls in her class that are unable to get into box splits just yet! Have you considered london junior ballet? Or central school of ballet? Maybe a gymnastic class once a week would help with flexibility?

  8. Are the white lodge auditions for year 7 similar to the ja audition? Do ja girls that audition generally wear their white ja leotards? Or is it better to wear different leotard? Only asking as dd who is a ja wants to audition next year! Any advise please!
