  1. I'm sure your dd will be fine they must think she has potential etc otherwise they wouldnt have accepted her! Hope you sort somewhere out to stay for the workshop, there is a premier inn in drury lane which is v.near covent garden.

  2. Yes dd goes to covent garden & will be doing the 2 day workshop so might see you there, i wonder what the price will be? They dont take any notice of what grade the girls are as the classes are taken quite slowly at first & taken almost back to basics! Years 4 & 5 are taken together & year 6 seperately, so girls that start as year 4's then have to repeat it all again in year 5! My dd didnt do any barre work in yr 5 but they spent a lot of time on strengthening exercises, musicality, & getting the basics correct.hope this helps!

  3. My dd is 11 in a couple of months time, she has been doing inter found ballet for over a year now, and her teacher mentioned about her starting pointe work from sept. I dont know what to think about this, is she too young yet? She is a rbs ja so dont want her feet sore for ja classes! Dd is quite small for her age but also strong & flexible, should i get a second opinion from her ja teacher or let her try out pointe work as it is only 10 mins at the end of the class.help!

  4. Know how you are feeling! I stressed about making the skirt last year for my dd, there was no way i could make it.you will probably find it easier to contact a local dance shop or somewhere that makes festival costumes etc.i contacted a local dressmaker last year who quoted me 50 pounds to make it! Luckily found a dance shop who made it for 10 pounds.dont think you'll have much luck in buying a second hand one as people probably hang on to them as a memory of dd's ja days! Good luck

  5. Hi my daughter is starting yr 6 sept so will attend the 2 day workshop, not sure about the cost though will get further info in sept i expect, i imagine it would still be beneficial if only wanting to audition for mid associate.

  6. Does anyone know if vocational schools such as elmhurst, rbs actually look at the ballet exam certificates that children have passed if they are fortunate enough to get through to final audition stage, i know some say they are not concerned about exams passed, but i am just curious!

  7. I had dd ja skirt made by a local dance shop that also made costumes for shows/festivals cost me about 10 pounds! Bargain well worth paying for someone to make it. Dd ja teacher checked them all to make sure the 3 lengths were there! Quite hard to do as dd waist v.small. agree with others there should be some made up at ja centres for parents to purchase. Just praying dd skirt is still correct fit for year 6!
