Thank you so much, Springbourne3, for writing about that production and, Darlex, for mentioning that it can be found on internet. I have found it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xerl4cej3p4

What a delight to watch Eva Evdokimova with her unique gracefulness and charm.

Loved this production and many happy memories of it. I also enjoyed Youri Vamos The Nutcracker-A Christmas Carol  which I saw In Basel in the late 80's.

Yes it’s good to look at graduation lists, but those lists only tell a small part, some students gain s graduate place within a company for a very short period from the start, then can end up unemployed for a short while. Other students who won’t be on the grad list may get a job within a company, six months or even a year later for a much longer contract.

Narrow the schools down and then audition. To get into any of these schools means a student has the potential, don’t forget though, there are hundreds of other students who have potential also competing for those places. Audition for practice, if you can afford it

    So true

  3. I once talked to an adjudicator who said they had given 89 for a tap solo and afterwards the candidate came up and said "thank you so much" and when they replied that they thought it had been worth it the candidate said "but I only got 83 last week". Different adjudicators different marks, as so many of them say it's their personal opinion.

  4. Depends what sort of university a pupil is aiming for. The Russell Group has this idea of "facilitating subjects" but you need to take it with a pinch of salt. If you offered two standard academic subjects such as English, History, a Modern Language _ French or German say, or Latin, Maths, Physics & the other sciences, Geography alongside a Dance A level, and if your results were high (A or A*) then I think you'd be fine for Humanities area degrees.

It's Dance + Media Studies + Photography (to offer a very clichéd set of apparently "Mickey Mouse" subjects) that wouldn't wash for anything other than an Art Foundation or the like at a post-92 university where you only need BBB/C or so to get in.

Having taught in 3 different national systems, I think it's a pity that the English/Welsh system requires specialisation so early. It means that you need a wide spread of GCSEs including science & humanities subjects, so that you have a wide choice of AS and A levels. Then I think you need to choose A Levels as a mix of what you enjoy (as you'll learn more long term if you enjoy it) and what you need to get you where you want to do. If you're lucky, what you enjoy and what you need completely overlap.

I know of a student who took  A Level Dance, Geography and Psychology and had offers  from 4 Russell group universities. I guess it depends on the individual student.
