For once I'm envious - it sounds as though it should be a really good match.  My suspicion is that Williams will win it, although if Muguruza does there'll be a bonus for me :)

Is this just the standard 9 AM the day before ticket sale, BBB?  I didn't think it would apply to the finals.

And my money's on Cilic for the men's.

I hardly ever bet, but if I do alison, I'll just have a wager on the other guy.;)

  2. I think RBS contribute something to their associates who travel over a certain distance, could be 50%. How far would you have to travel, it's a twelve hour day for us on a Saturday, but like has been mentioned earlier, the experience gained has to be beneficial later in life.

  3. Adidas used to be ridiculously narrow, so much so I couldn't wear their shoes / trainers, and they were supplied for free. I'd like to think they have started making shoes for everyone, but not sure. New Balance were just the opposite, nice and wide with room for a high instep, perfect for me.

As far as I am concerned, nothing will stop me from coming to London.

By going to London, it could be the best option on the day, as you just don't know where a terror attack will occur.

BBB, that is definitely not the case in my part of London.  The speed limit is as specified in the Highway Code, except for some odd patches that are like the road that LinMM mentioned, with a lower speed limit for no good reason.  Other than to catch motorists out with the handily placed speed camera. These are not residential roads, they are main ones.

Regarding your last remark, I don't know what you mean by that comment, and I have to say I find it rather an offensive comment to make to someone who has stated that they use a motorbike (as a pillion, not a driver, but even so.).  In the instance I mentioned, my steady and careful husband was doing 29 miles an hour on a main road in an unfamiliar part of London, and keeping up with the flow of the traffic.  Please explain to me where the danger is in that?  In fact, the only danger came when he suddenly realised the limit had changed, and started to slow down.  The rest of the traffic was either oblivious or ignoring it.

If you have ever ridden a motorbike, you would know that one of the dangerous things a biker can do is to drive more slowly than the rest of the traffic.  You know why?  Because aggressive twats in cars do their utmost to overtake and cut you up, coming so dangerously close at times that we've had to swerve away from them.  So please think before you come out with remarks like that.

When I had my Yamaha RD 350 I can't ever remember a car passing me.:)

  6. It certainly is horribleT4B, I had a bout a few years ago, in my knee. It was absolute agony for around four days or more, I take the lowest strength Allupurinol, but after trial and error with my food, I was lucky to find I was eating too many nuts, so I have been considering knocking the tablets on the head. The problem with gout is what causes it for one individual, might not have any effect on someone else. It's interesting when you do a little research, eg, if you suffer with gout you shouldn't eat poultry legs but the rest of the bird is fine. There are more purines in the muscle apparently, useless info for most, unless -------------????

Ibuprofen gel or Voltarol. It is better to apply gel than to take tablets apparently. Gets to work in the right place. Works a treat on my hand - very old injury and they warned me at the time I would get arthritis there.

Do get it checked out by a doctor though, a relation had what he thought was the beginning of arthritis and it turned out to be gout!

I'm pretty sure gout is another form of arthritis, now that IS painful. :(

  8. Lisa you're still a pup at 50, but OA is not a nice thing to have, wherever it turns up. Like a lot of contact sports persons, I've had more than my share of injuries, and it's as though the arthritis is just waiting to attack the injured part. I have anti inflamms on repeat, but try not to take unless absolutely forced to, or when I'm going somewhere when I need to be fit, such as a holiday etc etc. The strange thing is, you just never know when it's going to rear it's ugly head and strike, as everyone knows it can be extremely painful.

  9. I would let him audition for the schools you've chosen, see what the results are, then take it from there. That way you're not worrying about something that might not happen, if DS is successful, you can then get round the table and make your decisions.:)

Yes, the UK train ticket pricing system is very very confusing and in December, following action by consumer groups, the Department of Transport and different train companies agreed on a 12 month action plan to simplify things for consumer. More at: https://www.transportfocus.org.uk/news-events-media/news/welcome-action-rail-fares-ticketing/ and on moneysavinexpert.com: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/travel/2016/12/improvements-to-help-rail-passengers-find-cheaper-tickets-on-track-for-2017 Obviously a great, achievement but there are some concerns about implementation. See, for example, Martin Lewis' concerns that some simpler fares planned for rollout in May don't cover the important area of split ticketing on a single train (where your single journey on one train involves two separate single tickets instead of one. So you often get a considerably cheaper journey while travelling on exactly the same train.) See:  http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/travel/2017/02/train-ticket-trials-on-track-to-offer-cheaper-fares---but-plans-miss-a-trick-on-split-ticketing

Yaffa - with no connection to any of the above; just passing on the info...

It's a similar situation travelling throughout Europe, for instance, Paris to Barcelona on a TGV is x number of pounds, but sometimes it can be considerably less expensive by booking Paris to Perpignan and Perpignan to Barcelona. It's the same train, one thing to watch out for though, is to make sure you're on the front eight carriages, as the train splits in Perpignan.

  11. I asked about changing our tickets for an outward journey to London Kings X, there was an admin fee of £20 which was £3.50p more than the fare, so I decided to leave it as it was, cracking value though £16.50 for two of us on a 200 mile journey.

  12. I thought the anti brexit demo in London on Saturday, was a little insensitive being so early after last weeks carnage in the Westminster area. They could have either cancelled the march, or maybe changed the route, instead of having it so near where the incidents took place. It's maybe good that there wasn't too many taking part, instead of the tens of thousands stated by some of the press.

  13. It's a no for my DD (Y7).

I guess it's different for us, as we didn't ask to audition for White Lodge, but were invited to the final after attending the Mid Associates audition.

But while she was there, DD fell in love with the place, and is still understandably upset. But that's life.  We're holding out for a mid associates place.

Well done to those who were accepted. It looked like a tough selection this year. I would not have liked the job of choosing between all those talented children.

A similar thing happened to us, and only 4 in the final a couple of years ago. It does tend to build your hopes up, it's only natural I suppose, but none of the four were successful that year as no one was assessed out. It's teacher / parent day this coming Saturday  in SA's in London, so fingers crossed all's well.

  14. Sorry Lisa I've just realised you and Sean tried to open it after twenty minutes. That's definitely not normal, I would first look at the troubleshooting guide in the manual, just to see if it relates to anything that's happening. If not contact Argos, and explain the problem.
