  1. Lets be real for a minute though, I think unless you have blinkers on, we all know the chances of gaining a contract with a company are slim for many. Unlike other activities such as football and rugby, you can drop down the leagues if you're not quite good enough, and still earn a decent living. We have had a super journey via the associate programme, yes it is expensive, but the tuition has been top notch all the way through, leading to some cracking offers for US. As a responsible person, my eyes will be well on the ball in the next chapter, due to this topic in particular.

  2. I think some of the DC's parents, after reading a few of these posts, will be glad their children weren't successful in gaining a place at VS. It would be interesting to know, for those about to start US, just what the odds are it happening to them. If it's a very small minority, it's still too many.

I wonder if RG has a lot of corporate seat allocations which don't then get used? Just sitting down to watch  Sharapova v Muguruza on TV, which to me is a dream match,  and so far in their warm-up there are great swathes of empty seats.

I popped to the kitchen to make myself a coffee, and missed it.

Yes Alison it seems tickets are much easier to get hold of in Paris than Wimbledon especially on week days.

I'm not surprised Jane, as my son and his wife will be getting tickets once again for the mens final, and he's never ever seen or played a game of tennis in his life, apart from the final. I really wonder just how many genuine tennis fans there will be come final day? It's probably the same at a lot of top events, maybe who you know rather than what you know,  unfortunately it's the hard core fans who usually miss out.

    Edit.

Well that was amazing, the phone just rang offering me 2 tickets for court 1 on 3rd 4th 5th and 6th and 10th July.  If it was possible I would offer them to forum members as I've no interest, but unfortunately that won't be possible.

  5. I casually asked my GDD if she would ever consider teaching dance, her reply was short and sharp, "no way". I suppose it's each to their own,  and I certainly wouldn't worry about student finance, it must be the best loan deal EVER.

Kings International Ballet Academy are launching this year. They train in Russian but also will have RAD classes. They will be based in Leicestershire. There is also London Russian Ballet school which offers a vocational route. The issue with both could be funding but it would be closer than Perm. I believe both may have a couple of scholarships.

London Russian offer scholarships if they see something in you, and I reckon it's a school with a good future. What I liked is they tell you how it is, not what you want to hear.

  7. The blue tits in our box have been working tirelessly for a couple of weeks, so I guess it won't be too long before they fledge the nest. I'm always a little concerned after they hatch, and just hope a cat doesn't kill the parents, leaving the babies to starve. That has happened before, and it's just horrible to find eight fully feathered little birds, lying there motionless.

  8. I recently found seven old tenners in the top pocket of a sports coat I hadn't worn for a while, when I took them to my local bank I had to enter my card details, or they wouldn't have changed them. (Lloyds)

If you look on the website you will see the number of points your GDD will get with UCAS. The new Adv 2 RAD is very demanding and she should be very proud of herself, if she gets a Distinction she will be eligible for the Genee International competition. My DD puts it on her CV

Yes Canary, that might well be an option she possibly could have. The problem is fitting the exam in at the minute, what with GCE exams coming up, holidays, and then starting vocational school in September. What an incredible journey this dance world is eh? One thing for sure whatever happens in the future, we like a lot of other people will certainly have something to look back on, but for now we'll keep looking forward.:)

  10. We've got our usual bluetits, but my next door neighbour who isn't that far away, just can't get them to nest in his garden. Like almost everyone, we have a pair of blackbirds. They've been very timid for a few years for some reason, but this years pair seem pretty fearless, so I'm going to try and get them feeding from close up. Oh forgot, no cuckoos heard yet.

  11. I reckon the Wenger out brigade, will be singing his praises now, some of them can be so fickle. He always made me laugh to myself, when he used to say "I never saw it" when asked about a clear cut penalty to the opposition. One thing for sure, managers like him don't come along that often.
