  1. Did anyone have a situation where they were shown the new checkout service earlier today (with the seats pictures) but are now unable to see it?
I'm quite nervous as I want to get a ticket for tonight and can see some available, but given the ROH website and its technical issues I'm wondering if those seats are actually available and is this information valid? I wouldn't want to turn up to find that the seat has gone.
Just wondering if anyone can still see seat availability for tonight?

Would be good to know what is happening with Raymonda as I have a ticket for 21st Jan, through From the Box Office.  I m just waiting to see if any more restrictions are brought in this week before I decide on what to do for events I have planned in London in January.

Same, it's quite confusing right now. Will From the Box Office provide refunds if the performance is cancelled? Or is it better to book from the venue website? I'm not sure

I've only watched the first act so far, and thought it improved towards the end, what I presume is the dance of thieves was exciting, and Fumi Kaneko and Edward Watson had a fascinating pdd, other outstanding dancers were Calvin Richardson and Joseph Sissens. The sound quality of my laptop is bad but even so I wasn't impressed by the music, recognised the Liszt music but thought it sounded odd compared to the original.

Just wait for Act 2 - the music is really amazing.

Agree that Joseph Sissens and Calvin Richardson really stood out. Astounding performances.

I dare say the ROH could do with the additional support of us all buying the "deadstreams", too.  I'm several behind at the moment, but guess I shall be catching up sometime in the next couple of weeks, faute de, well, anything else.

What do you mean by "deadstreams"?

Adoring the Dante Project stream. Of course, it was uniquely amazing live, but still has the same profound impact digitally.

Not sure where to ask this, but has Thomas Adès released the orchestral score on Spotify or anywhere else? Would definitely purchase it if I could find it.

Of course, but it still feels familiar, and it's not just the ROH, so many shows are now closing.

Was just wondering, in the case of the ROH anyway (not too sure about other places) have the shared eating areas/selling of refreshments exacerbated the situation at all?

I know dining services are a big part of their revenue as well, but was wondering if they'd come back without the additional services it might have been easier to contain spread. I'm sure it wouldn't have made much difference in the end though.

Why are you annoyed?  I'm pretty sure it wasn't an easy decision to cancel performances.

I was annoyed because I didn't understand why the Nabucco performance could go ahead today (20th) and not on the 28th. However, as @Dawnstar kindly pointed out, it's because of the casting: a different cast is performing today who is presumably Covid-free. Same with Tosca. The other cast must have tested positive.

Did people see the cancellations coming? It does seem like quite a shock especially since it was only a few days ago when I asked what everyone's plans were and most were still planning to go...

I'm a bit shocked and also kind of annoyed about the Nabucco ones as I was hoping to go on the 23rd/28th.

I'm really hoping that none of the January performances of Nabucco are cancelled, as it's such a short run. And hopefully the January performances of Nutcracker can go ahead.

Very slightly off topic, I suppose, but carrying on from the previous posts, I just checked to see how old Morera actually was, and I was quite surprised to see that Sarah Lamb is also in her early 40s, and that Nunez will reach the big 40 in  March. .  These dancers are still marvellous, and my first choice for so many different things.

Thank goodness the RB doesn't have have an obligatory retirement age like the Paris Opera ballet.

Indeed - and Natalia Osipova is 35, definitely still an amazing dancer.
I know they've all had injuries during their career, as every dancer experiences - maybe not that many though?

I believe Steven McRae has said that minimising injury is the best way to prolong a dancing career, and it seems that these dancers have been able to do this well, given their demanding schedules etc. I suppose the pandemic period of physical rest has also helped them in this respect.
