Something a little different at the Lilian Baylis Studio. From the out of Asia season some Japanese contact Gonzo which is more or less brutal somewhere between violence and tenderness. On till Saturday. The other part is a dance by a dancer from Banyunas, Indonesia.

A simple but effective short session from the TAO Dance Theater. 8 bodies on the floor in one line with some simple movements.

A mixed programme from ArtisticDirector Robert Battle at Sadlers Wells - today's call was for Exodus and Awakening, with Four Corners and Open Door to come tomorrow. Highly energetic performance by the company. On until 17th September and the going on tour around the country until 19th October.

Sorry people, it was a regular photocall yesterday not the phone jobs but my trusty Nikon. But thanks for the comments. I don't think the upper circle was closed as I was booked there for the evening performance but managed to get an "upgrade" in the back of the stalls. Interesting that the lighting was better in the evening than the photocall. the young lady next to me remarked that they were a bit under rehearsed? My wife and friend enjoyed it. ( Both Ballet Rambert trained). I am sure it will be fine for the rest of the week. There seem to be some good value tickets for the rest of the run.

We had the usual pattern for the Swan Lake rehearsal, with the first night leads of Olga Smirnova and Denis Rodkin before the run through with a cast for later in the run. The delightful Anna Nikulina and Ruslan Skvortsov headed the cast. Here are some pictures from the rehearsal.

I am very sad to see the negative comments by people who have not seen this production. As was mentioned the Coliseum was over 80% full last night and the reception was enthusiastic. My wife and I enjoyed it very much. It is great fun with lots of nice touches. Go and judge for yourselves and if you get a good price ticket it will be a bonus. My pictures will follow soon I just had to stop the negative build up.
