Her offer for this September is year 7 which is what she would be going into for her normal state school. However if we’d accepted the place last year she would have gone into year 7 at that time and therefore would have been in year 8 this September.

Wow, she must be talented to have been given the offer last year.  I think I would have done the same as you though.  Best of luck!

DD was offered a place to start in year 7 at Moorlands last year (she’s currently in year 6) we decided not to skip a year so deferred her place until this September. So it can happen at other schools at their discretion.

That's interesting.  So she can continue next year into Year 7? Thank you for your response, I appreciate it!

  3. Hello, I have been thinking about this and wondered if anyone knew the answer.

Are children who are “out of year” allowed to audition for a place behind their “birth year” peers?

For example, a summer born child who was held back a year before starting school (so out of year), could they apply for an “out of year”

place at a vocational school? So a child who is Year 6 (but should be Year 7), and applying for Year 7 when should be Year 8. Or, is it strictly the year you are born dictates the year you will be.

Have been wondering it for a while and cannot find any information online.

Hi! We auditioned in Hull at the end of March and have yet to hear back yet. My DD is desperate for a place too - she loved it. Good luck to your DD 🤞 xx

Thank you and good luck to your daughter, too.

I totally get that its a bittersweet time.  My DS made finals for Paris (their 6 month stage/internship) but didn't get a final offer and was really disappointed to get 'so close'.  He got a straight 'no' from Tring.  He got a 'yes' for YDA and a 'yes' for WL. Its a real mixed bag of results, the same with summer intensives. Each one had its own emotional reaction of ups and downs.  I feel its a gruelling process for everyone, but I am always in awe of these kids for going through this process at such a young age!  Especially the really important bit of learning how to handle disappointment and moving forwards. We know wonderful dancers who didn't progress past prelims, who got yes for this school, no for that school, and every combination imaginable.  But their individual journeys won't be defined from this one moment in time or the decision of a specific school.

    I love this response, @BalletBoysDad 👏

  6. My daughter (9) is keen to try the Ballet Boost audition. She is Grade 2/3 standard, recently receiving a distinction for her exam. She loves ballet.  My question is, what is the likelihood of her being offered a place? Is the standard very high? Are there many places available?

In addition, we don’t have any aspirations of her joining a vocational school, she just loves dance and wants to improve her technique. Is BB the right place for her? Or is it more for children who aspire to the vocational route?

I would welcome any thoughts. Thank you!

  7. Can anyone recommend someone who can give PBT lessons online? Either group or private? I think PBT would  really help my daughter, but cannot find anyone local for lessons. Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

  8. Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had seen any Summer Intensives around for Juniors, over the Summer holidays.  My daughter is 9 and I'd love her to experience something this Summer since we aren't going anywhere.  We are in Kent, so either Kent or London could work. Thanks in advance.

I think they’ll be doing the JEP again, my daughters certificate & email said ‘well done for completing our first junior engagement programme’, not something you’d put if it was a one-off 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think this would be a good way for them to raise funds plus give more children an opportunity to participate. I do wonder if they will offer the program again.
