  1. Do you regret spending so much time and money on dance for your children?
Do you wish you’d had more family time etc?
My children adore dancing, competitions, associate classes, online classes, gymnastics etc but I feel that our life often revolves around it and I wonder if we’re missing out on other things by following and encouraging it all at such young ages knowing a career in this subject isnt easy and may never happen.
My children all have a wonderful life and we do many lovely days out but I feel dance is always on the back of everyone’s mind no matter where we are or what we’re doing and it does ‘take over’.
So I suppose my question is do you wish you didn’t support/encourage this route for your children? Or do you wish you’d kept it as a weekend class hobby?

My stomach went over when I saw April. It would be great to know either way by then. I just wish there was feedback from auditions as my dd decided to do it again but I’ve got no idea why they would choose her this year when they didn’t last time. What if it was based on her body type??? She can’t change that??? Oh well it will make her resilient if nothing else!

    Yes same here!
My dds teacher says has a lot of potential and everything royal ballet are looking for  (as I’m sure many others do, her teacher has had several children gain places) but if she isn’t right for them I’d rather know so we don’t keep auditioning and breaking my daughters heart.
It would be so lovely to get feedback.

Thank fir this. Does that mean no finals for JAs? Results based on video auditions?

That is what I believe from my email response .. however the application did say somewhere they would like to have them in person if rules allow? I’m sure I read that and it wasn’t a dream?

Does anyone know whether if you apply to “London 32 weeks” and “London 25 weeks” that would be like applying to two different centres and gives my LO more chance or whether as it’s London and London, it still only acts as one choice?

When Dd went to the insight day they said if one centre is your only option then don’t put two down.

    We have done this.
was hoping it will show we only want the one centre but we don’t mind how many weeks she just wants to join!
    (wishful thinking!)

Thank you that is lovely to read. It makes me sad because my DD really is such a beautiful dancer. Her musicality is wonderful, she is graceful and she has this amazing ability to watch a dance/routine once and just perform it. But I know that her body is just not that classical ballet shape and we can't change that. I'm sure she has a future in dance of some sort and she is so passionate about it. Who knows what the future holds! 🥰

I could have wrote this myself. My dd really is an incredible dancer. She has won scholarships for her ballet, several awards at festivals for her ballet solo and people say when they watch her dance they forget everything that is going on around her because she just sucks you in. I feel a little cheated by the whole experience and I’m just glad it hasn’t knocked her confidence. She wants to try again so we will I just prey it isn’t via video!

I assume (never knowing) multiple watches, like my DS had, were a sign of comparing a large pool of similar candidates for a much smaller than usual amount of places.

This is what I thought. Instant yes and no’s then second viewing to compare the maybes.
Big congratulations to all the yes’s x

Sorry to hear that, my DS is a late July baby and he didn’t quite make it last year. They grow and develop so much and so quickly, that outcome could definitely change next application. Hope she doesn’t mind too much. x

That’s promising thank you. Her teacher did say it’s harder for the children July onwards and usually they gain the places in year 5.
Elmhurst was her aim and she achieved that, RB would have been an incredible bonus so she’ll be ok!
