  1. I do not know if anyone noticed, but the most of girls who got WL yes this year were seasoned performance professionals having a history of either performance with the professional ballet company or on/near on West End or in top dance competitions. This is a massive part to achieve success in WL audition - being able to perform. Having a track record to be a safe pair of hands/feet in past.   I think it was one of the most dicisive factor between candidates this year. Yes, you have to have a right physique, amazing facility and musicality, but without performance these will not stand out. Please correct me if I am wrong about this, but none of the extra classes could give you this special magic.

Thank-you so much. I think it is a sponsorship for boys specifically. Feeling very fortunate it is for 5 years and covers full tuition (does not cover homestays, or accommodation). He really likes YDA.

Congratulations. Well done to your DS. This is an amazing news. YDA is our favourite place as well. Dd is their associate too and really loves their nurturing approach. Hope we will hear from yesterday's girls audition soon. It was a busy weekend- Saturday in WL and Sunday in YDA.

Someone mentioned the local Waitrose toilets being out of order. Does anyone know where there might be other public toilets nearby? Someone mentioned a Sainsbury’s I think? My daughter will need to visit a loo beforehand, so would be handy if anyone knows.

Maybe try Sainsburys close to Richmond Circus or Asda at Roehampton.

Hi, my dd today received invitation to MDS audition year 9 dance course which is on Saturday, so no time to prepare🙈 . Would anybody be able to give me some idea what to expect please? Is it a normal ballet class or also in person interview or should they prepare any own solos? What about a physio screening? So sorry for all the questions🙈 x

Congratulations. Ours for year 7 says 90 minutes ballet class followed by physio assessment. My DD is very excited about studio class 🙂. Good luck everyone. 🤞

My DD is in the same situation shes not a JA and was SWL for year 6.  I have told her to enjoy every moment of the audition and to keep dreaming big.  It’s going to be a special day for all our DC.

We are in the same situation too and I have told her enjoy her special day at WL finals (that would be memorable day irrespective of the outcome). Good luck everyone 🤞

Would the park toilets still be open? Thank-you for the tips and all your research. xx

Toilets are open. There is a large ASDA nearby close to A3, a moderate size Waitrose in North Sheen and if you drive more towards Richmond Circus there is a big Sainsburys store.

I've been emailing rbs about the lateral flow tests as they do not do them in Wales... You can buy them online (some are reputable e.g mhra approved/from bupa) however rbs have said to us they cannot be home tests...you need to book somewhere for them. Unfortunately you can't book any lateral flow round here even privately so we are going to have to get the rapid antigen...which is more expensive Unfortunately x

I would suggest look around rbs local places in Richmond or Kingston area (some local pharmacies are offering) and arrange a test there day before her audition.  There  are few places around (look at Richmond or Kingston council websites) and as this is for educational purposes it really does not matter if it is close to home or nearby future school.

Interesting you say that, YDA actually seems the best fit for my ds at present for year 7 and for us as a family.

I second to that as it has very nurturing environment- at least what we can see from her associates and I think kids doing academically quite well too.

I wonder if perhaps they might take more to finals if it is via zoom, but I think it would be more beneficial for both parties if it were to be in person. I think it’s really important for both the school to see the child and the child to experience travelling to the school. I appreciate that London and the surrounding boroughs are in Tier 4 (we are too!) but I think exceptions around travel should be made for a final audition. It’s no ordinary class and is a big deal for both the schools and children to check that it’s a ‘right fit’ on both sides, I think.

I just wonder if a negative test might be required as there will be a familiarity with administering this by then in the secondary schools.

I could have written this lol.. ours are a mash of mainly home, a borrowed hall and some dance studio..  me and my hubby have tried our best,, ours too not always great but we aren't teachers or have a dance background...we have one left which will hopefully be done at weekend but its really hard not to keep redoing bits lol in the pursuit of will it be better next time 🙄 and has been a bit stressful with doorbells, sirens, my other kiddos making noise, the pets, lockdowns, self isolations 🤣😂😂 think we all deserve a big pat on the back for doing our best to help our DCs on this crazy journey lol. X

I could not agree more. We have submitted ours before Christmas. Yes, it is not perfect - majority done at home and only travelling steps done at church hall before we were moved to Tier 4. I am glad it is done as due to a new surge unlikely to be much at home for few upcoming weeks. Good luck everyone 🤞

I’ve got such a silly question, I might be missing it on the original email. How do we actually send Elmhurst the videos? We’ve done ours today and uploaded it to YouTube but where do we submit it? Do we just email them the link does anyone know?

I do suspect you put your link from you tube or vimeo into email, but maybe I have misread. Good luck everyone🤞🍀
