  1. Im thinking that as a student accommodation supplier then the company will allocate your son a room and he will be sharing a flat with other students. It will work in the same way that universities allocate rooms/ flats for their university students but as a private accommodation provider, it won’t necessarily be students sharing that are from the same university. However, I am sure that they try and ensure that they put students from the same university/school together.

Not sure if I should attach a link for the sake of protocol or practicality, but I just read a recent Russian interview with Osipova that suggested O'Hare is intending to bring back the likes of Dante's Inferno and Swan Lake next season since the audience/dancers/artists involved missed out on them. She also talks about her life post-quarantine if that interests anybody, and how all of the rest of the company are coping with company-led classes they do in the morning together spearheaded by instructors like Brian.

Edit: I'll just go ahead and attach the link: https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/4316257

I’m possibly just being completely dumb here but how do I switch it from Russian to English or do i just have to copy into translate? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Don't buy the boy's app for grade 7 - it only contains the exercises which are different (they have different music and choreograpy) i.e. Boy's port de bra, adage, dance & free movement.

Thank you for that! I had just assumed it was cheaper because it is the old syllabus whereas all the others have obviously been updated relatively recently. You have to wonder why they haven’t put up the girls syllabus yet?

  4. I'm currently studying for my grade 7 exam or at least was before classes had to stop but was yet to purchase the DVD/book in order to practise at home. The RAD have now had to stop shipping online orders so I am unable to

purchase them and the app only has the grade 7 boys. How different are the boys exercises from the girls? Would I get away with using the boys syllabus on the app until things go back to normal? I realise that there will be exercises missing that are only for the girls but is everything else just the same?

  5. This isn’t dance related but still awesome news anyway but I have been offered a place at my top choice university for children’s nursing. After the face to face interview being cancelled due to the virus and then having it be conducted over the phone, I wasn’t exactly prepared! Here’s to hoping things soon calm down and the scheduled start time will still be September!

My local studio is running real interactive classes online via Zoom, AND you can enroll as a casual drop-in student just like you can in real life. Choice of five adult classes per week!

They are an RAD studio so the adult classes are based in that style but without a syllabus. I’m not sure of the etiquette of posting links direct to schools but they are Downland Dance and the details are on their Facebook page.

I can’t seem to find the Facebook page @RachelSkipper

  7. Hi,

I jumped straight into doing intermediate without doing IF after having taken a 2 year break along with doing grade 7/8. There was nothing in the class that I didn’t know step wise, it was just the fact it is much more technical and the speed of the exercises for allegro were much faster than I was used to.
As My teacher said to me when I suggested doing IF first, the RAD wouldn’t allow for students to miss IF if they thought that you needed it to do intermediate.
I would suggest giving it a try, the worst that could happen is that you hate it and do want to do IF first.
    Good luck ☺️

I just got excited as I know the answer to this! have no idea where the post is, but I do remember reading it at some point - the info that is being talked about is on the royal ballet school annual report from a couple of years ago..I have linked it below - you can work out the percentages quite easily? However, this is obviously old info, numbers will have changed considerably since then I would have thought? I don’t know if this link will work.

    https://www.royalballetschool.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/RBS_AnnualReport_201516_Final.pdf
but my summary..It’s on average an 11% chance of getting a place, that’s an 89% chance of not getting a place, (which gives it more perspective) 😅 if they want you they’ll find a place and if not keep trying 💁🏼‍♀️🤞🏻🌈 (and if you are a boy in Eastleigh it seems to help 😆)??

They have the one for 17/18 online which is slightly more up to date but have yet to realise 18/19.

  9. I’ve just looked at the dates out of curiosity but I’ve noticed that for the final upper school auditions, they have a semi final on the Saturday and then a final on the Sunday - has this always been the case? Why would they have 3 stages of auditions for upper but not lower school?

  10. I’m not entirely sure if this ides would work but could you possibly practise sliding down into the kneel  by holding onto something and  repeating the movement but gradually loosening your grip until you are managing to do it without holding onto something? In my head that seems to make complete sense but I’m not sure if someone reading it will be able to make sense of it 🤦‍♀️

There is a ticket scheme called Friday Rush whereby a modest number of tickets at all prices are sold online at 1pm on Friday for performances the following week.

There is a webpage explaining the details.

    https://www.roh.org.uk/events/friday-rush

Tickets for popular shows will go very fast in the minutes following the 1pm release so it is best to be familiar with the website, choice of tickets etc to make sure that you are speedy in adding what you want to your basket.

It is also always worth posting on the Ticket Exchange page what you want as many people's plans change in the months between booking and the performance.

Good of luck with the tickets and the interviews.

Thank you for this info - the Friday rush idea sounds good although if tickets run out quickly then it also sounds really stressful 😂

There are often returns in the last few days before a performance that was previously sold out.  You just need to keep refreshing the availability page regularly and you will get something.   I’ve had lots of tickets 2-3 days before that way.

thank you - I will just have to see what  options are available when the time comes. Living in the north means I don’t get many chances to see the royal ballet unless it’s at the cinema so I like to take any chance I get to see them.

  12. Hi,

a friend and I are planning on visiting London at some point through January and are hoping to see a performance at the ROH. However, as the trip is for university interviews and the university  have said that they would provide the final details in the new year, including the dates, we are unable to organise tickets just yet. How easy it is to buy tickets last minute? I know from previously going through the uni interview process that sometimes dates can be given as little as a week in advance and I would worry about not being able to get tickets that late.

In the past I have always bought tickets months in advance so this is very new territory!

I am puzzled though as in the programme and cast list it doesn’t indicate that it was O’Sullivans debut....there is normally an asterisk by the name indicating that it’s a first performance in a role but there was certainly no such asterisk in mine.

A friend posted a photo of her cast sheet onto social media last night and her cast sheet displayed an asterisk next to O’Sullivans name.
